You didn't recognize the man but the way he spoke and carried himself suggested that he was an important man. The suit he was wearing had little designs all over it and you couldn't help but think that only those with creative minds would appreciate how unique this suit was. The man looked to be in his mid twenties.
"These are mine. Did you have a question about any of them?" you asked.
"Oh nothing like that. I really what you've done with each piece. I mean the glass shattered is absolutely brilliant, or the one with the leaves embedded in the paint for texture. I love your work. My name is Enomoto, I am actually the owner of an art shop where we teach lessons to those wanting to learn. My business has grown over the past few years quite a bit and I've started taking in art students for co-op positions to give them real work experience in the art field. If you're interested I'd love to interview you for a position this coming winter." he explained.
You couldn't believe what you were hearing. This art gallery was just the beginning. A co-op would be another huge step towards your future. This man had handpicked you out of everyone here.
"I would absolutely love to do an art co-op! How do we arrange an interview?" you asked, already excited about the idea of this.
"I will have to speak to your school and sort out details with them in order to arrange it. It is done very professional, I'll let the college professor in charge of the gallery know that you are interested and I will contact your school through them. You can expect to hear more details in the coming weeks." he said.
"This is incredible, thank you for the opportunity! I look forward to our interview." you replied with a smile.
"As do I. Enjoy the rest of the gallery." Enomoto said, returning your smile.
"Thank you, you too!" you responded before he continued on looking at other art pieces.
This was real, you were getting real art experience. You had come so far from where you had started.
"Told ya you were good." Yaku said from beside you.
You turned to face him with excitement. "Did you hear that!? He chose me!" you exclaimed happily.
Yaku smiled. "I did hear, was standing right here the whole time." he said with a laugh.
"Holy crap! I can't believe that just happened!" you said, you were trying to calm yourself but you still couldn't.
Yaku's smile grew. "You're really incredible." he said in a softer tone.
You smiled feeling yourself being hit with a wave of calmness and comfort from the way he had said that. Something about this boy was so comforting.
"Food now?" you suggested.
"Sounds good." Yaku agreed easily.
"Come on I'll fight us through the crowd." you said as you reached over and took hold of his hand. The instant you grabbed his hand he interlocked his fingers with yours as if it were the most natural reaction in the world. But if you were being honest you really didn't mind. Just like Yaku had said, you sort of liked holding his hand too.
You pushed through the crowd, pulling Yaku along behind you. It wasn't easy to get through and Yaku had been surprisingly very good at it earlier. Despite being fairly small he was good at getting to where he needed to go.
Eventually you made it to the street outside of the building. It was busy with several people walking with purpose down the sidewalk. As well as cars that lined the roads waiting for a green light.
You had always liked living in the busy city though, you couldn't imagine ever living anywhere other than the city. It was comforting to be surrounded by so many different people who all had so many different and unique styles and ways of thinking.
