After the group of you went out for ice cream you went back to Kenma's place with Kuroo as well for the rest of the evening while Yaku and Kayo went back to their place. It was a nice Friday evening, the three of you spent your time mostly playing Minecraft.
Nights like these really reminded you of being younger when the three of you spent all your free time together and had no worries in the world. But as you continued to get older and moments like these remained you realized that these two boys were not simply just your first friends in life but instead the friends you would be sharing every milestone with for the rest of your life.
Even though they were supportive you still couldn't avoid Kuroo's teasing at the fact that out of all the guys at Nekoma you ended up with Yaku. But he couldn't fool you, you knew that in secret Yaku was really one of his closest friends. Kenma wasn't super chatty since he was focused in on the game, but by the way he had a soft smile when the topic was brought up you knew just how happy he was for you.
When it was getting pretty late you and Kuroo finally decided to leave. When you got home Isamu was in the kitchen and to your surprise he was baking something.
"Smells good." you said in shock as you walked in.
"Course it does. I'm getting kind of good at this." Isamu replied.
You peaked at the oven where the light revealed a tray of brownies inside baking. It had been completely out of the ordinary for your brother to be baking when Ari had been over, so him doing it on his own was definitely shocking.
"Why the sudden interest in baking?" you questioned as you took a seat at one of the chairs by the center island.
"I'm trying to become more self sufficient, I mean let's face it I'm not going to be living here for much longer. I actually really need to learn how to cook, maybe you could help me with that." he said.
You actually liked the idea of teaching your brother how to cook. A few months ago it would have sounded like hell to be stuck in the same room as him for an extended period of time but now you liked being around him. After everything that had happened these past few weeks in both your lives you had developed a closer relationship. He was the one family member that you actually valued and wanted to stay close with as you grew older.
"I'd like that a lot. Maybe you could teach me a few things about general house maintenance. I don't really plan on calling up dad everytime something stops working." you suggested.
Isamu nodded. "Sounds like a deal to me." he agreed.
Ever since you were children your parents had picked out certain things you should learn and the roles you should play based on the gender you were. But now that you were older the two of you could share that information and both become independent.
"Y/n." Isamu said, looking over at you.
"Yeah?" you responded simply.
"I'm going to accept that offer. I want to go to that college in America. I think it's the right thing to do for me." he said.
His words caught you a little off guard. You knew he had been considering it and part of you knew he was going to be leaving. But it was still hard to accept the fact that he would be leaving shortly after the two of you had finally fixed your relationship.
But he was your brother and this was the best thing for him. So those thoughts only lasted a moment before they were replaced by this bittersweet happiness for him.
"I think you are gonna kill it there." you replied with a genuine smile.
It was going to be difficult without him but that didn't matter to you in this moment. All you could feel was an overwhelming feeling of pride that your brother had figured out what he wanted to do with his life.
