As the sun set you four decided to put the volleyball away for the night. You followed Yaku over to a fire pit close by the lake while Kuroo and Kayo went inside to grab foldable chairs to bring out for you guys to sit in.
"You know how to start a fire?" you questioned. You knew the basic idea behind it but you were sure you wouldn't be all that good at the execution of actually lighting the fire and getting it to stay lit.
"Yep!" Yaku replied happily as he began creating a little tipi out of wood. You watched as he made several layers, the inside having some paper while the outer layer had the thickest wood. He then used a lighter to set the paper on fire. He meticulously blew on the flames to provide them with the needed oxygen. Before long you had a full fire going.
"Well shit you actually do." you said as you admired the strong flame he had created.
Yaku looked up at you from where he had been tending to the fire and grinned proudly.
"So what do we think about hot dogs and sausages for dinner?" Kuroo asked as him and Kayo approached with the several things in hand.
"Sounds good to me." Yaku agreed easily.
With that Kayo handed out sticks for each person to make their own food over the fire. You ended up in a seat between Kayo and Kuroo which made you more than happy. Being here with Kuroo felt so special. This was the first time you were really camping and you were so glad that he was there to share this experience with you.
"So this thing is actually going to be safe to eat like this?" you asked skeptically as you watched the others stab their hot dogs with the cooking stick. You had never been camping and the idea of cooking food on a stick over the open flame seemed a little strange to you.
"Of course it's safe! You just gotta make sure you get in the flame good." Kayo answered.
"Yeah don't follow her lead. Kayo always burns her food." Yaku chimed in.
"Shut up Mori it tastes better like that!" Kayo defended herself as she positioned her stick right in the middle of the flames.
You laughed as you positioned your stick at the top of the flames.
"Dude we had a training camp last year and there was a big fire at night for us to hang out at and Bokuto was dared to eat as many of these as he could in five minutes." Kuroo started a story.
"Oh my God he ate twelve in five minutes! It was disgusting!" Yaku jumped in, laughing at the memory.
"Wait that is so funny, I remember Keiji telling me about that! He was still pretty new to the team and Bokuto at that point so he was absolutely stunned. I don't think he would even bat an eye anymore though." Kayo said with a few laughs of her own.
"You know I only just met the guy but that doesn't surprise me at all." you added with a giggle. Bokuto was a funny guy and you were sure he would do just about anything for a dare.
"That was the same camp that you accidentally locked Kenma outside for half the night." Kuroo said, looking over to Yaku.
"Oh shit yeah. I don't think he ever found out it was me." Yaku said as his eyes widened at the memory.
Your mouth fell open at the confession. "That was you! Kenma was so pissed, he didn't stop ranting to me about it for months!" you exclaimed. You had always suspected that Kuroo had been the culprit but never Yaku.
"Yeah my bad, sorry bout that." Yaku said with a large grin and a quick shrug as his eyebrows lifted.
"Oh sorry? That's it? Morisuke that was literal months of my life spent listening to how pissed off he was!" you said in a teasing tone.
