The next few days went by in a blur. Tuesday evening you went over to Kuroo's with Kenma to hang out for a bit. The three of you played a game of monopoly that lasted about four and a half hours before Kenma called it off even though he was clearly winning. You didn't mind ending the game when you did though since you were in extreme debt and Kuroo was starting to get cocky.
On Wednesday school was alright. You were happy that things at least felt normal there, more normal than they did at home. After school you had asked your parents the dreaded question of going to Kayo's cottage. You were sure to specify that it was just you and Kayo and her parents that would be there. You didn't mention that Kayo's brother would be there and you didn't say a word about Kuroo coming along either. And you definitely didn't tell them that her parents weren't going.
It took a lot of convincing but to your surprise your mother reluctantly agreed. Once you had her on board, it was only a matter of time before your father agreed too. You were shocked that it didn't take them more time to consider it. But you were almost positive that was because they knew something had happened during the weekend and felt bad for leaving you. This was their way of making it up to you without actually having to apologize or admit that something was wrong. Isamu hadn't told them every detail but he told them the broad idea of why you were pissed with him. You didn't know if they ever punished him for kicking you out but you didn't care to find out.
On Thursday you had a test that you were pretty sure you didn't do well on at all. You knew you would hear about how disappointing your results were from your parents later on. But it wasn't your fault, you had way too much on your mind to even think about focusing for a test.
Thursday evening your parents took you to get a new cell phone. Part of their condition for allowing you to go on the trip this weekend was that you would have your location constantly shared to them. You ended up with a really crappy old phone, no where near as good as the one you had before. But you saw that coming, your parents were never going to spend the money on a good quality phone after you broke the first one. It didn't bother you all that much though since it still got the job done.
It was now Friday afternoon. Class today was going by extremely slowly but you knew that was just because you were looking forward to the end of the day when you, Kayo, Yaku, and Kuroo would head out for their cottage. You had dropped your stuff off at Kayo's house last night so that all you guys had to do was swing by her place before leaving right after school.
Even though it was Friday you still hadn't spoken to Isamu since the incident on Sunday. There had been the odd exchange where you would answer a simple question from him but nothing more. You were serious this time when you said you hated him. You had no reason to continue wasting your time trying to be a person he wanted to interact with instead of yourself.
You knew your brother wasn't doing well. He didn't talk to any of his normal friends at school and as soon as he was home he would lock himself away in his room alone. He wasn't even eating as much as he nearly did. You noticed all this even though your parents who had always worshipped him didn't. But it wasn't your job to care about that anymore. You wished you would do something to help him, but everytime you thought you should you stopped yourself. It wasn't like he ever gave a shit when you were going through a rough time. This was something he could just deal with on his own.
You pushed the idea of Isamu out of your head as the final bell rang to end class for the week.
"Change your mind at all Kenma? Wanna come camping with me?" Kayo asked in a slightly teasing voice as she slung her arm over the boys shoulders.
"Absolutely not. That actually sounds like an awful time." Kenma responded as he immediately shrugged her arm off of him.
Kayo laughed in response, obviously having been expecting that type of answer from him. "Come on Kenma, don't be like that. Late nights under the stars... might be some falling in love going on." she teased with a quick flirtatious wink.
