After her relaxing bath with Ava's presence, Beatrice finally spent a peaceful night in her bed, no longer having to question who had it out for her father. Surely, it wasn't easy to process that your own mother organized your father's assassination, yet it was better than not knowing. Ignorance was killing Beatrice and eating her inside. Now she knew. She was fully aware what her monstrous mother was capable of.
Beatrice laid awake in her bed, wrapped in Ava's arms as the younger caressed her hair soothingly. For once, she didn't wish to escape her reality by going to sleep and meeting her dreams. She was living a nightmare, surely, but she didn't feel bothered by it anymore. She would obviously still need time to process her father's death, not having mourned it since she immediately went out to seek revenge. A part of her was glad that she could finally focus on herself, not having to worry about any possible dangers waiting for her. The other part was terrified of having to acknowledge the chaos that has unfolded. All because of someone's arrival. Ava.
Beatrice would never blame her, no. It was bound to happen. She was simply the thing that lit the fuse. That last push her mother needed to end her father's reign. A reign that Beatrice never truly understood. Yet she swore to take over if needed. She never said it out loud or admitted it to herself but she never wanted to become the next ruler. Not that she would truly rule anything since the parliament has the power over everything. They simply SOMETIMES need a signature from a royal member to pass a law or so. Yet she still hoped that her father would live long enough to see the day of Beatrice's kids taking over the reign. That plan failed miserably, thanks to her lovely mother.
-Babe, you should get some rest., whispered Ava who had been watching Beatrice getting lost in her thoughts.
The older brunette looked up at her with a genuine light smile and nodded. She leaned up, pecking Ava's lips before placing her head on the younger girl's chest.
-Goodnight, my love., hummed Beatrice once she was in a comfortable position.
-Goodnight, Bea., replied Ava, placing a tender kiss on Beatrice's forehead.
-I love you., whispered Beatrice, relaxing.
-I love you too., smiled the younger girl.
Finally, a few weeks later, it was Duretti and the queen's trial. A public trial. Beatrice didn't care about the public eye. She couldn't care less about what they would have to say about her mother's doings. Ava walked with Beatrice, walking down the hall to once again find themselves in court. They sat together with their chosen family and Ava's family, listening to the state's attorney and how they were building their case against the queen and Duretti. They ended up having different sentences as they had committed different crimes. Yet the result was the same.
'Found guilty on all charges.' was what the judge had said. Beatrice would have loved to have seen her mother's face when the judge said those 5 little words. But it was satisfactory enough to watch her sink in her seat. Duretti on the hand, did not seem to care about the consequences he was facing. He looked around the room, as if he was looking for something or someone. Beatrice got up as she watched her mother get dragged away by an officer, vanishing into a backroom. She was escorted out of the court along with her friends and family. They were obviously bombarded by reporters. Beatrice ignored most of them.
-Traitor!, yelled a man who was standing behind the reporters as he noticed Beatrice.
The brunette didn't pay him any mind, being dragged away by Ava and her friends.
-You're going to end up like your father!, yelled the man again visibly angry, now being held back by two officers.
Beatrice stopped in her tracks. She straightened her back and turned around, walking back to the man, ignoring her friends pleads to ignore him and stay away from the press. She motioned for the officers to let go of him.
