-We have to tell your mom, Ava. That boy needs to pay for his crime., tried Beatrice.
-She is going to be maaad. I drank too much., pouted the girl.
-I'm sorry but it's not up for discussion., said Beatrice as she kept driving, already seeing Ava's house.
She pulls up at her place, getting out and going around the car. She helped Ava out of the car, letting her lean on her. She walked with her to the door. Beatrice rang the bell and waited. The mother opened the door with a smile, but it quickly faded when she saw her daughter.
-Oh my god. Ava, what is wrong?, asked the mother worriedly, taking Ava and leading her inside.
Beatrice was about to step inside but the mother looked at her.
-Leave., said the mother.
-I need to talk to you. I need to tell you what happened., said Beatrice calmly, stepping inside and closing the door behind herself.
-I don't want to hear it. I told you to take care of my daughter and you bring her back like this?, scoffed the mother, making Ava sit down on a chair in the kitchen.
-She was drugged. She was almost...He almost took advantage of her. I stopped it. I know who the boy is. I have his name and address. I did my best to keep her safe. She was on the dance floor with a boy and next thing I know, she's being dragged out of the backdoor and to a car. His car. He was on top of her. I...I took care of him. I'm sorry., explained Beatrice as the mother moved around in the kitchen, getting a cup and water.
She stopped and looked at Beatrice.
-A boy- She- oh my god. Ava..., sighed the mother, tears in her eyes, trying to take it all in.
-I took her here immediately. I wanted to make sure that the boy will pay for his actions. I know that you work in a law firm., explained Beatrice as she looked at Ava.
Ava was passed out on the chair.
-I'm gonna get my partner. He'll take her upstairs., said the woman.
-I can carry her., replied Beatrice, walking up to Ava and picking her up.
The mother looked at her and sighed. She nodded and motioned for the stairs. Beatrice walked up the stairs, seeing a colorful door. She guessed it was Ava's room because of the big A on the door. She opened the door with her elbow. She walked to the bed, gently putting Ava on the bed. She took her shoes off.
The mother watched. She walked inside and closed the door.
-I want the name and address., said the mother.
-Of course. I will send you everything I have., replied Beatrice, taking her phone and copying Miguel's message, sending it to Marisa.
The mother looked at the message and frowned.
-I know that last name. It's a coworkers last name. This must be his son. God., sighed Marisa, now looking at Beatrice.
-I will be going home now. I am sorry about all of this., said Beatrice, not wanting to make it worse.
That's when a hand grabbed her wrist. She frowned and looked down, seeing Ava half awake.
-Stay. With me., said the smaller brunette.
The mother nodded and put the blinds downs.
-She's right. It's getting late. You should stay. Text your parents to make sure that they're okay with it. But we don't have a second mattress so you're gonna share the bed with Ava., explained the mother.
-Ma'am, I don't think that's a good idea. She was almost assaulted. She shouldn't be close to anyone right now., said Beatrice, looking at Marisa.
-She asked you to stay. And I trust you to keep your distance from my daughter., replied the mother with a sigh as she saw her daughter giving her the puppy eyes.
-Fine. Fine. I just need to send a text. And I need to use the restroom. Can you show me to it?, asked the girl.
-Yeah. It's this door. Ava has a private bathroom. Oh and I will leave some pajamas out here so you can change into them. While you're in the bathroom, I will change Ava into her pajamas so knock before you come out., replied the mother.
Beatrice nodded and walked into the bathroom. She smiled a little when she could catch the scent of Ava's perfume. She took her phone out and texted Vincent.
<Vincent, something came up. I will not be coming home tonight. I am staying at a friend's place. She needs me. Use my car if needed. You know where the keys are. Also, send the girls after this boy. He hurt my friend. I want to personally make him pay. I will send you his address and name. Thank you in advance.>
She quickly sent him the information before turning her phone off. Beatrice sighed and flushed the toilet, pretending to have used it. She simply turned the water on, washing her hands. She dried her hands on a towel and then knocked on the door.
-You can come out., said the mother.
Beatrice opened the door and saw Marisa taking Ava's dirty clothes and putting them in a basket.
-I put your pajamas on the nightstand. They're Ava's so they're a little small for you., said the mother, trying her best to smile as she said that but sighing eventually, walking out of the room.
-Thank you., said Beatrice as the mother stopped at the door.
-No. Thank you for bringing her home and doing your best to keep you safe. I don't even want to begin to think of what could have happened if you didn't intervene. So thank you. Thank you for looking out for my little girl. And I'm sorry about my initial reaction., replied the mother, walking over to Beatrice and hugging her.
The girl was tense, but she knew that the woman needed the hug. She simply hugged her back, not too tightly. The woman pulled away, a few tears rolling down her cheeks. She walked out of the room, closing the door behind herself.
