Beatrice walked to the passenger's seat and was about to get in but then a reporter's question caught her attention.-Thoughts on you never being queen since you won't marry a man?, asked a reporter.
She looked at him with a frown.
-What?, asked the brunette, confused.
-You are in a relationship with Ava Silva, the CEO of a law firm's daughter. You are gay. You won't be marrying a man so you won't be queen., stated the reporter.
-I don't need a man to run our country. But I also don't even know if I will ever want to run our country., replied Beatrice, shaking her head.
-Oh come on now. The princess is too afraid to step up?, provoked the reporter.
Beatrice sighed and shook her head, she got in the car. Ava didn't hesitate to drive off. She started the car and pulled away from the swarming paparazzies and reporters. They drove home in total silence, not exchanging a word or look. Ava pulled up at her house, seeing once again a crowd of people by their front yard. She slowly drove to her garage, parking inside and closing the garage, not wanting to face any of them. Beatrice looked at her.
-I'm sorry. This is all my fault. They're here because of me. I'll- I'll make them leave., said Beatrice as she got out of the car.
Ava got out as well and took Beatrice's hand, looking at her.
-No. Stop. That's what they want. They want your attention. Don't give it to them., said the younger girl.
-But they're at your house now. This is going way too far., argued Beatrice.
-They'll get tired of waiting eventually., shrugged Ava.
-But-, tried the older girl but she got interrupted by Ava pecking her lips.
-No buts. Let's just...celebrate that that asshole is gone for a while now. Okay? Let's focus on that., suggested Ava with a light smile.
Beatrice sighed and nodded.
-Okay, you're right. I'm glad he's gone., added Beatrice.
-Me too. Now come on. How about we eat some ice cream and watch a movie?, suggested the younger girl.
-Sounds perfect., nodded Beatrice, placing a soft kiss on her forehead.
Ava smiled at that and then started leading her girlfriend to the kitchen. They were reaching for the ice cream when they heard the crowd outside getting louder. Beatrice frowned and walked up to a window, seeing Diego trying to walk through the crowd but being interrupted by all the reporters. Beatrice didn't waste a second, going to the front door and running outside. She grabbed Diego's arm gently, pulling him away from the adults. Ava had followed her outside.
-Harassing a child to get answers? Is that how low all of you dare to go?, scoffed Beatrice, shaking her head.
She looked down at Diego.
-Are you okay?, asked the older girl.
Diego responded by hugging her tightly. Beatrice knelt down, wrapping her arms around him. She picked him up as he hugged her tighter. She walked away from the reporters who were still taking pictures of them. Ava glared at them, not sure what she should say or do, so she just walked back to the house with Beatrice and Diego. Once they were inside, Ava closed the door behind themselves. Beatrice was still holding the younger boy close to her as he wouldn't pull away.
