You didn't know what to make of her. She was so out of your comfort zone. You thought you could learn to love her, but you didn't know where to start. You thought she could learn to love you, but her heart was always somewhere else. Sometimes you kissed her and she let you. Sometimes she pushed your hands aside. Sometimes you came away with the wetness of tears in her mouth and then she wouldn't let you touch her face.
There were times when she was so happy is felt like all the stars had started shining for you. She grabbed your hand and ran and ran and you could barely keep up. Once, she said she loved you in a sleepy voice then immediately took it back. You whispered that it was okay because you loved her too but by then she'd fallen asleep.
The truth is you never planned to fall for her; it all happened way too fast. When she left, she said, "I have too many problems," but you could never tell what she meant. She said, "Maybe one day, when I'm better," but you didn't know when that would be. So when she left you weren't sad at first, just in a bit of a daze. You still haven't figured out how someone who meant so much could turn into someone you'd never see again.
