Here we are again

No bc can we actually talk about it I need a discussion 😭 this is on the same topic of the aroace erasure I posted earlier.

Like I have seen at least two aspec people now say it's not erasure to ship aspec characters and while I sorta agree I also strongly disagree. I only agree when the aspec character is not repulsed/negative and if you're shipping the aspec bc there's a genuine connection you think could be romantic and not just to ship them with somebody bc "ace/aro people can still date" and you think everyone needs a romantic love interest. Also, aspec relationships might and do look different than a normal allonormative or heteronormative relationship so that should be taken into account.

But to ship a aroace/asepc romance/sex repulsed character is erasure. You would not ship a gay man with a girl without getting called homophobic. Bc gay men are not attracted to women. If you only ship bi or pan people with opposite gender and ignore their canon attraction to the same, people would call that bi and pan erasure.

"But shipping is just for fun" but why aren't aspec people treated with the same courtesy? Like yes some aspecs date and want to date so shipping them isn't erasure as long as you still acknowledge their identity.

Like I just, I don't know. O don't know why I keep pressing on this bruise but I'm genuinely so frustrated rn and I have no one to talk to about anything and I fear I'm just blatantly in the wrong and I have a narrow or close minded view of things or I have this "I'm right and everyone else is wrong" mindset that I don't realize I have nor do i want.
