The struggle is real tonight.
I hatttteee when people romantize platonic friendships, real AND fictional. (There is no escape 😭🥲). Apparently to them if you care about someone it instantly means it's romance because friends apparently friends apparently can't love or care about each. "There's no platonic explanation" friends can show deep love too. There's your platonic explanation.
I posted a TikTok saying pretty much the exact same thing and even put examples in the comments, all straight boy/girl friendships too to avoid people calling me homophobic.
Lucey and Quin from Time Cut (SPOILERS FOR TIME CUT SKIP TO NEXT PARAGRAPH don't get me started!! The whole ass movie I was scared bc I thought their friendship was cute but I was afraid it would be romantic so I couldn't enjoy their interactions. He didn't like her, he likes her sister but she's gay and everyone ships him with Lucy)
Harry and Harmonie. Phoebe and Joey. I'm not actually a Harry Potter fan or a friends fan but this is one I see people say is platonic and then other people romantized it.
Then for real people, any two actors who party love interests in a show/movie. Rudy and Madison from obx (people shipping them created drama within the cast and Rudy's girlfriend and Madison apparently I'm not entirely sure) OH DONT EVEN GET ME STARTED. KIE AND JJ (the characters) WERENT EVEN ORGINALLY TOGETHER IN THE OG SCRIPT. (apparently)
Apparently the writers changed it to appease fans.
Then there's Madison (different Madison) and Charlie from the ghost show I can't seem to shut up about or escape from. this is worse because Madison was a MINOR during filming/after it came out.
So it's safe to say I'm just annoyed 🤩
If any of my platonic friends from my books get shipped I might just leave.
This is why I have trouble consuming any piece media. (Time Cut for an example) sometimes I wish I never found out I was aro bc it's changed my perspective on the world and love and it's too overwhelming. Why do I have all this rage and heartbreak.
I'm fine. Well maybe not but I will be. I'm just being dramatic. I'm ok.
