Neither my fiancé nor I liked horror movies so I didn't usually go for roles like those but the set was spectacular, cabin in the woods, crystal clear lake and nature surrounding it, all the recipes for a perfect horror story.

Marianne was a model, and a very popular one at that but had a natural talent for acting, and this time the director offered her a role, the lead role, we were the nerdy couple of coprotagonists who survived out of sheer luck and carefully kept cliches

The set was spectacular, but it was so far out into nature the gps told us we had a four hour drive ahead of us, luckily they rented another cabin nearby so we could sleep there, this was to be the last movie we filmed before our wedding, this little adventure in the woods was like a honeymoon rehearsal.

Luckily most of the other actors chose to stay at a hotel just outside the woods so we had the cabin all to ourselves "do you think it's a good idea? I mean, neither of us has ever done anything like this " I looked at the road ahead, one hand on the steering wheel and the other one on the gearshift " don't worry, it's just gonna be like that action movie we filmed last year, we're just gonna have to try and not laugh when the guy in a green suit jumps out of the bushes with a plastic knife" she seemed relieved, when I was done shifting gears I moved my hand to hold hers, it's incredible how after so many years and adventures together we still find solace in the smallest gestures.

We rehearsed our lines together in the car trying to piece them together.

In all those little moments I thought back to our first encounter, not on set, like most of our colleagues imagined, but in schooo, we both went to Garreg Mach and fell instantly, it had been 5 years since we met at the school's library and we were still going strong, we both had our ups and downs in those years but we were each other's biggest support and we both made it through.

We reached the lodges, the lodge where the movie would be filmed, they looked straight out of a summer camp, the rest of the cast was mostly there and the director was explaining the first scenes, we followed him inside a room with all the costumes and we all jumped back at what we saw, there was a giant white wendigo hung to a wall, it was just a costume but it looked realistic enough to fool everyone in the room "that is the monster suit" it was definitely not the goofy cgi suit Marianne and I imagined, which was confirmed by her reaction as she quickly moved behind me, squeezing my hand.

The rest of the time we toured the set and saw where the scenes would be staged, we were entertainers at a summer camp getting the camp ready a week before kids arrived and we'd be facing a wendigo, or at least the survivor of a tragedy happened in the mountains turned monster due to the amount of human meat consumed... or so the director explained, Marianne was still a bit tensed so I leaned into Marianne's ear and whispered "this plot sounded like the secret love child of Friday the 13th and until dawn" I saw her shoulders relax as she giggled.

According to the script she was the shy girl/bookworm, which wasn't really far from the truth, and I was the idiot hopelessly in love with her, which was also not far from the truth...

The only difference was I was supposed to be the emo one and wear a leather jacket in some scenes.

When the first filming session ended it was evening so the other actors left and we went to our cabin, it was a five minutes walk from the set and looked straight out of a nature's documentary "do you think there might be deers in the area?" Marianne asked with the hopeful eyes of someone who'd pet a stray tiger if she saw it in the wild
