304. Teething Problems

Each time Mapi's fist connected with the punching bag, she imagined it was Danielle's face that she was hitting.

She'll forever hate that woman, but the look on Kaia's face was one Mapi couldn't get out of her mind.

"Correct your form." Rosa instructs from where she's sat on the bench, Alexia sat on the floor between her legs and leaning her chin on Rosa's knee.

"Just let me hit it." Mapi replies breathlessly.

"No." Rosa refuses. "Because you'll hurt yourself. Let your body follow through with the swing."

Mapi suddenly stops swinging and supports her out of breath body on the bag in front of her, feeling the sweat trickle off her and her right knuckles were stinging. "I want to see Kaia."

"Mapi," Alexia sighs softly. "I understand that you miss her, but she has recovery all day and we play Belgium tomorrow."

Mapi turns to the couple suddenly, grabbing her water bottle off the floor. "I fucking hate that woman and everything she stands for."

Rosa raises an eyebrow, because hasn't had the displeasure of meeting Danielle.

But Alexia knew exactly where Mapi was coming from. "It's good that they got that game out of the way first. Kaia can focus properly now."

"I want to see her." Mapi repeats more to herself. "Make sure she's ok."

"You spoke to her last night, didn't you?" Rosa recalls.

"Yeah, but she was in my jumper." Mapi replies, reaching for her phone and feeling her heart leap at the two messages off her wife.

"Oh my god." Mapi chuckles in disbelief, walking over to Alexia and Rosa quickly. "Look, look. Fabian is getting one of his back teeth."

Alexia pushes up off Rosa's knee and looks at the close up picture inside Fabian's open mouth. "Wow, that looks quite sore."

"He'll be teething so bad." Mapi sighs, but she was smiling at the image of her son growing up. "I'm just going to call the paediatrician quick."

The engaged pair watch Mapi go silently, then they both look right to each other.

"She's struggling." Rosa points out.

"Yeah." Alexia agrees as she stands up. "It's not the best time for her and Kaia to be apart. She's a big teddy bear who needs to be held at night." She chuckles.

"Hold her then." Rosa urges. "You won't be Kaia but you're one of her best friends. Let her know she isn't alone emotionally, let her body release all those feel good chemicals."

"Oxytocin?" Alexia deduces in agreement.

"How many carbohydrates are in a kilogram of sweet potato?" Rosa teases lightheartedly.

Alexia laughs, not at all upset about being teased for being a health freak. "Around 200 grams, 20% of the volume." She answers honestly.

"Nerd." Rosa leans up, meeting Alexia's lips that lean down to kiss hers.

"Good news." Mapi announces as she walks back into the gym to grab her bag. "The paediatrician said we can use baby bonjela on Fabian's gums, so I'm taking the train to Zurich, I'm going to find a pharmacy and go and see them."
