11:49pm, August 30th

The red Ferrari F80 drove tightly through the weaves of the Sicilian mountain roads, the grip extraordinary and making the driver push his car on the straight and really test the breaks and downforce before each corner.

This route was one all Morellis had taken their cars on, the christening route to make sure each car was tuned perfectly before it returned to the garage.

But with it being so dark and the car moving so quick, neither the driver nor passenger notice the random patch of spilt sand on one of the straights.

Not until it was too late to break and the back wheels lost complete control, spinning the supercar 180 degrees and towards the hairpin turn that went further up the mountain.

"What the fuck was that?" Carmelo shouts, desperately trying to counter steer against the spinout and take them away from the railings. "Why's there sand up here?"

Matteo plants his feet in the footwell, gripping the handlebar above as he braces himself for the impact. "Don't lock it up. Let the car break for you!" He shouts.

They were covering ground too quickly, there was no way Carmelo could control them with their wheels slick with sand and the momentum making the heavy car spin so fast.

They were going to die.

"Signuri pirdùnami. (Lord, forgive me.)" Carmelo mutters as the passenger side of the car collides with the metal barrier, going straight through and flipping over half a dozen times to land in a ditch thirty feet down.

There was no noise of the tyres on tarmac anymore, no sound of metal crunching through tree branches.

The only noise that defended the valley was the cruel and continuous beep of the horn due to Carmelo's limp body hunched over the wheel.

The next morning

The sight that fell before Kaia the morning of the Copa Catalunya final was one that she really had to not laugh at.

She was busy making breakfast, stirring the scrambled eggs in a way that made them fluffy and exactly how Mapi and Fabian preferred them.

Mapi on the other hand was chasing a naked one year old around the kitchen table, a clean nappy held in her hand as she tried to catch Fabian.

Fabian had recently discovered what was between his legs, and like many little boys he decided to become obsessed with letting it be free.

The only probably was, he wasn't potty trained and it risked him peeing on the floor like a dog.

Kaia was glad for her brother living in the city, because it was going to be his job to explain penises to Fabian when the time came.

"Fabian! I swear to god." Mapi groans, stopping on the spot in hopes he runs around into her arms.

Fabian squeals in excitement, naturally thinking this was a game. "Leave me!" He shouts, his English surprisingly understandable.

"No." Mapi refuses. "You're not being naked when you can't understand the concept of needing a wee."

"Wee." Fabian looks down, making horror fill both Mapi and Kaia's veins.

"No!" Mapi panics, grabbing him under the arms and dashing out into the back garden.

"Don't let him wee on the grass!" Kaia calls out in concern.

"The wall." Mapi reassures in what's definitely disgust, because it was probably splashing. "Oh god, I hope your little brother isn't like you."
