Kaia had possible never been quite as excited as the morning she woke up and realised it was the day they were getting their Norway Spruce.
It was a day she'd wished for since she was younger; she'd made it to marriage, she had her first child, and now they could go to a tree farm to pick out a real Christmas tree as a family to take home and decorate their new house with.
Christmas was always a time her inner child came out, a time of year she found so much comfort and reminded her on the love and family around her.
But the fact they were doing this made Kaia reflect on the success and family she had made for herself here in Barcelona, it was an achievement almost; a reminder that she was literally living the life she had always dreamed of.
If young Kaia saw her now, she'd be amazed.
Mapi was just as excited, feeding off Kaia's childish excitement which had her grinning ear to ear as she layered Fabian up for the colder weather.
She couldn't wait to see the house all Christmasy, smell all the winter foods Kaia's going to no doubt be cooking in the next few weeks, to see Fabian's reaction to all the lights and colours of the city's incredible markets.
"Gorgeous," Kaia wanders into Fabian's nursery with a sheepish smile. "Would you still love me if we had four Christmas trees?"
Mapi stops combing Fabian's wet hair and looks up, surprised by the number. "Four?"
"Yeah," Kaia wanders in more, giving a gentle stroke of greeting to Fabian's cheek as she stops at the blonde's side. "The real one in the living room for presents to go under, the one we have now could go in the kitchen for Christmas Day dinner, then one in the movie theatre to make it all cozy and appropriate for our Christmas movie binge watching... then I was thinking a smaller one maybe in the playroom?"
"Oh my god..." Mapi breaths out in realisation. "When Fabian's older we can make some decorations together, paper snowflakes, DIY baubles and ornaments."
"Exactly." Kaia agrees, her eyes burning seeing the happiness on her wife's face, glad to know this is something they both want. "And when he's in school and brings home little Christmas decorations he made, it can all go on that tree."
"And not on the fancy real one." Mapi adds on in a laugh, leaning over to peck Kaia's cheek. "Yes, I will still love you if we have four. I always love how you get this time of year."
Ten minutes later, their drive had two more cars and two more couples arriving to join in with today's activity.
Alexia's car had a roof rack installed, which meant her new Ferrari would be one that would (hopefully) carry the three trees back to their individual houses.
She was slightly anxious about scratches, but Rosa had thought ahead and brought thick blankets to tape around the truck of the trees and not scratch the paintwork.
"Clever thinking." Patri chuckles as her and Emilia meet with Alexia and Rosa at the front door, amused by the stack of blankets.
"No scratches." Alexia wags a simple finger before smiling over to Emilia and then at her girlfriend. "Rosa, Emilia. Emilia, Rosa." She introduces them.
Rosa offers the blonde striker a smile, her hands still full so she doesn't go in for a proper greeting. "It's nice to meet you." She says, not knowing Patri all that well yet either.
"My Spanish is uh..." Emilia glances to Patri with a guilty smile.
"Not the best." Patri explains in a fond chuckle. "You're getting better though." She teasingly nudges Emilia to go up the stone stairs.
