280. A Week For Kaia

On Sunday, March 30th, Mapi had the job of navigating a stumbling child while also carrying a tray of breakfast foods towards hers and Kaia's bedroom.

She had told Kaia to have a lie in, to enjoy the serenity of a morning without having to do anything other than relax and check there were no important messages on her phone.

Today was match day, but more importantly to them it was Kaia's first Mother's Day.

So Mapi might've gone all out, knowing this morning was all she really had to make today special for Kaia and Fabian.

"Ok, ok, you take these and give them to mami." Mapi whispers, handing a bowl of strawberries to Fabian along with the card and a small teddybear. "Go on, you go first."

Fabian takes a slow and unstable step forward when the door opens for him, the bowl and teddy held against his chest with the same hand while the card was almost being crushed in his grip. "Ma!" He shouts towards the bed.

Mapi tries not to laugh and keeps recording, making sure to stay back enough to catch each of Fabian's wobbly steps as he makes his way over to Kaia in his Lion King pyjamas.

Kaia pushes up off the mattress, her smile sleepy and hair tousled in a way that Mapi adored more than anything.

"Is this for me?" Kaia asks, taking the teddybear but more importantly the bowl of strawberries before Fabian drops it. "Wow, that's very thoughtful of you, Fabian. Can I have a kiss?"

Fabian stands on his tippy toes to pucker his lips and push them against Kaia's, looking back at Mapi while giggling happily.

"He's also made you breakfast." Mapi adds on, placing the tray of very well made food on Kaia's bedside table.

Kaia takes a look to it, then her eyes find Mapi above the camera. "Seems slightly out of his skill set." She teases.

Mapi shrugs with a proud smirk. "Maybe he had a little help."

Kaia leans up, which urges Mapi to lean down and meet her lips halfway, the video not quite catching the soft kiss.

"Thank you, baby." Kaia murmurs as she leans back while lifting Fabian up onto her lap. "What have you got there?"

"Is that mami's card?" Mapi encourages the ten month old who was trying to open the card like one of his books. "Give the card to mami."

Fabian thrusts the card towards Kaia, staring at her like he wanted her to open it for him.

So Kaia takes the card and then turns Fabian around, leaning him back against her chest so they can open it together.

Mapi perches on the the bed by Kaia's knees to get a better angle for the video, picking at the strawberries sat by Fabian feet.

"Oh wow, Fabian... this card is so beautiful." Kaia compliments as she takes it out, letting Fabian examine the front. "Is this Peter Rabbit?" She asks her wife with a slight grin.

Mapi nods, swallowing the fruit with a smile. "I know you love the art design." She replies.

"Happy first Mother's Day." Kaia reads slowly, holding her finger under the words so Fabian's eyes follow it. "To my wonderful mummy, I hope today is as special as you are."
