AN: I feel like a true Wattpad author by saying I had emergency surgery over the weekend so I wasn't able to write, post or really read any comments.
However I'm moved back in with my parents for recovery, so that means I've got weeks of bedrest and hopefully a lot of time to write!
I can't make promises, however I feel this is a blessing in disguise for those of you missing the frequent updates!

On the morning of January 2nd, Kaia was not surprised to open her eyes and find Mapi already awake next to her.
Kaia didn't get the best sleep herself, she could feel Mapi tossing and turning throughout the night, sighing into the darkness and kicking the duvet off her before cuddling back into it.
But Kaia didn't say anything when they made eye contact in the morning light; she didn't want to make Mapi feel bad, so she just smiled and slowly stretched her arms above her head. "Good morning."
"Morning." Mapi mumbles, putting her phone aside to shuffle over into Kaia's side now she's awake, resting her head on the brunette's chest.
Kaia's arms drop back down, one wrapping around Mapi's shoulders as her other hand runs through the blonde's dark roots.
They stay like this for a good ten minutes, neither of them talking, neither of them moving, both just resting while they still could this morning.
Kaia's eyes were closed peacefully, enjoying their closeness, the serenity and the feeling of Mapi cuddling into her.
But Mapi was staring straight ahead, an unconscious frown on her face and the arm wrapped around Kaia's waist was nervous instead of affectionate.
It was the unknown that was terrifying, all the things that could go wrong. Not only did she not enjoy the pain of intravenous needles and medical insertions, she worried that her eggs would somehow be defective; that even though she's already had a fertility test, she wouldn't be able to have biological babies even though IVF.
These were all trivial worries, but it didn't stop them from circulating Mapi's mind. Humans can make mistakes, and the doctors they're seeing today are human.
Thankfully, Fabian's soft cry brings Mapi out of her spiralling mind.
She throws the duvet off her body before Kaia can even open her eyes and pulls herself out of bed.
Kaia watches Mapi head towards the bedroom door, knowing she needed to support Mapi silently today.
There was no point in saying 'don't worry' or 'it won't hurt' because that was patronising as hell and practically a lie, instead Kaia planned to bring the positive energy, the reassuring and excited smiles.
Because today... they were beginning the journey of having their second child.
Mapi returned with a sleepy baby in her arms, bringing not only Eduardo with them but also Fabian's favourite blanket from his cot.
"Good morning, cheeky." Kaia greets him excitedly, in the midst of getting out of bed.
Fabian giggles, but his eyes were still puffy and his head was still resting into the crook of Mapi's neck.
"Is he changed?" Kaia asks as she throws a shirt on to leave the bedroom in.
Mapi gives a gently tap to Fabian's bum as she places him on the bed, letting him crawl to the middle like he always does. "Fresh and dry."
"Good." Kaia nods thankfully, leaving to do her morning task of making Fabian his fresh eight ounces of milk.
Mapi on the other hand gets back into bed, leaving the TV off so Fabian could entertain himself with scratching the surface of the soft bedsheets, trying to eat Eduardo's ears or grabbing Mapi's forearm to chew on her like a gummy bear vampire.
