276. Heat In The Cold

AN: sorry for the late update, I've had a super busy day and barely any internet connection. But here is today's chapter!

Spain got to England the day before their game, giving them time to settle and train before they face England.

Mapi unpacked her things, got Fabian changed for the colder weather and left to meet with Kaia's cousin Grace.

The hopefully soon-to-be pregnant woman agreed to babysit Fabian since she was travelling down for the game anyway, then she'd take him to England camp in the evening for Kaia to have him for match day. 

It took all stress off Mapi and Kaia and they could focus on their preparations for tomorrow, knowing Fabian is with family and can bond with his second cousins while he's in England.

Despite the stresses of travelling and juggling Fabian, this international break was just what Mapi needed to get her mind straight again and know her career was still on the right path.

She had spoken to Alejandro naturally and he of course had her in his future plans for this team, but she had also managed to sit down with Irene one evening and they spoke about their own futures.

Irene admitted to talking to other clubs, she admitted that Mexico intrigued her and Jenni's positive talk of the league made her more convinced.

She was realistically coming towards the end of her high level career, with Laia Aleixandri playing ahead of her for country and now possibly for club too if Barcelona are successful in getting her signature.

Which they would be able to get with both parties already in agreement.

Mapi felt bad that she was the one nervous about her place on the team, because all of her fears were actually Irene's; someone who had been a strong defender and captain for their country once upon a time.

But a defender who was sadly leaving her prime.

A club like Barcelona needed the best. And that single conversation motivated Mapi to send a late night text to her wife the night before their game against each other.

Mi Vida😍: why? Are you feeling weaker? Do you need to reassess your gym sessions with the club?

Amore Mio❤️: no, my gym sessions are good still. I just want to specialise a little at home, strengthen certain muscles, improve flexibility and maybe learn some new skills?

Mi Vida😍: absolutely

Mapi went to sleep that night with a mindless smile, at ease and feeling extremely grateful for being married to practically a superhuman, a superhuman who would help her keep her body at peak fitness for as long as possible.

They had arguably the best personal trainer in the city, the most incredible home gym and recovery setup and an insanely qualified personal chef.

And that was all thanks to Kaia's knowledge of the body and nutrition, Kaia's research on equipment and technology and Kaia's multiple degrees that decorated her office wall.
