For the last match day of Group D, it was all to play for.

England and the Netherlands were fighting for second place, France were wanting a win for it not to go to goal difference if England win today, while Wales wanted to get one over on their historical rivals.

Kaia was disinterested about the rivalry that came with England v Wales, instead she focused on the manager and players they had to face.

She saw them as a team making their Euros debut who wanted to prove themselves, still building and growing but having that bright spark.

That was more where their threat lied, the individual players who could turn a game around, determination to finally get points in their last game of this competition.

And doing it against England would probably make them feel better, it would make the clash more testy and the fans would no doubt argue with each other.

The stadium was sold out, the fans were cheering as the two teams walked out and Kaia kept her focus on the grass ahead of her.

She could see Leah leading the team, wearing the same colour of Nike APKM's as her, a soft lilac with dark purple details chosen for them both by Mia.

The demanding quality Morelli children seemed to have was cute really, especially when they paired in with puppy dog eyes and a 'per favore'.

Kaia had already been told that Fabian hushed Athenea quite loudly when she spoke over the warmups that were discussing England's danger players.

But at least Kaia knew her wife and son were watching from the Spanish camp, as were all other Spaniards who knew England were ones to watch.

Mapi definitely was watching while having score updates of Netherlands v France on her phone.

The group was always going to be close, but Mapi really wished England were in a more promising position so Kaia could rest for the knockouts.

But instead, Mapi was watching her wife line up for the third match in a row, the player who was most likely going to run the most again and stay on the pitch until the job was done.

Mapi didn't know how Kaia did it, how she had the energy and strength to play again and again for 80+ minutes with the same intensity.

The second the ball touched Kaia's boot, it was calm and controlled, it was confident and clean.

There was a freshness in the way she passed the ball with zip, the sharp change of movement and how calm she was off the ball and moving up the pitch with her team.

Leah's voice commanded England, but it was Kaia's movement that dictated how they attacked Wales.

A goal was coming, it was clear to all those watching with how Wales suffer a few shaky moments at the back under pressure, miscommunication that almost ends in an England chance.

All they had to do was be patient.

"Oh, for gods sake." Mapi sighs, staring at her phone that said France 0-1 Netherlands.

They were level on points with England now, but at least their goal difference still wasn't as good.

England players on the pitch obviously didn't know this, but the way Sarina waved her hand to tell them to pick up momentum told everyone that the England bench knew.

"Sarina has just found out about the score in the other game."

England were already set out to win this game, but finding out they were now drawing on points with France and the Netherlands made it far too close.
