By the second weekend of September, Kaia was available for selection again and activity avoided Pere where she could.

It wasn't about being petty but rather keeping it professional, avoiding tension where it wasn't necessary.

It wasn't ideal, but Kaia was more than fine with Miquel leading team meetings and sessions, Juan focusing on their fitness, Carla's therapy sessions to talk through emotions and the joys of beating up Rosa's brother Jordi on the mat.

"Jesus." Jordi laughs, holding his gloved hand to his ribs. "So much for a broken foot. You've still got quite the kick on you."

"Am I kicking with the right amount of power?" Kaia asks, sweat slowly trickling off her as she keeps her guard and hands up incase she gets grappled.

"Here." Jordi slowly mimics a kick to Kaia's ribs, showing her the technique of how to shift her body weight. "Remember to make sure your standing leg is strong and stable, then you have control over the power you want to put into the kick." He coaches. "You've still got an accurate kick, but you need more regular sessions with me or Rosa if you want to be at your sharpest."

"Yeah, I know I've been slacking recently." Kaia acknowledges humbly. "I'll be better from now on."

Jordi easily catches the fist Kaia swings towards his head. "There's no need to feel guilty about focusing on your family." He reassures. "We both understand, we both know life can be difficult.

"How's little Nacho?" Kaia wonders teasingly, tugging her hand from Jordi's loose grip.

Jordi laughs at the reminder of his cheeky three year old son. "Ignacio is very good, very opinionated now he can structure his sentences. He's looking forward to Rosa's wedding."

"So am I." Kaia smiles to herself. "Ale showed me the location, it's absolutely beautiful."

"La Reina knows what she wants." Jordi chuckles.

Kaia hums teasingly. "And she wants your sister."

Jordi rolls his eyes with a laidback smile. "I know this is probably out of line, but thank you for bringing them together." He says genuinely. "Honestly, I've never seen Rosa so happy, so... in love."

Kaia nods, but she knew it wasn't hard to fall in love with Alexia and her personality. "They're beautiful together." She says softly.

"More than beautiful, they're perfect." Jordi corrects with one of those older brother smiles Kaia had seen on Sebastian's face at her own wedding.

"Are we going to keep having a heart to heart or can I carry on hitting you?" Kaia taunts, knowing they were on a time limit and she did really want to get back to her best.

"Alright, Morelli." Jordi knocks his padded fists together. "I want to see some combos, feet and hands."

Once kickboxing was done for the day, Kaia showered and changed, sitting down in the empty changing room to check her phone and see the multiple missed calls from Romeo and a message from Mapi asking if she had spoken to him.

It made Kaia's heart drop and she quickly called her cousin back, hating how long the rings dragged on for.

"Kaia!" Romeo answers the phone in what sounds like relief. "Sorry if all of those missed called worried you."

"Are you ok?" Kaia asks.

"I'm... yeah I'm good." Romeo answers unconvincingly. "It's actually why I called. I've booked a flight to Barcelona tonight just to get away from Sicilia for a bit... but I forgot to really ask you or Sebastian if I could stay." He explains.
