Italy was so beautiful, the dusty dirt roads winding through vineyards, the sea in the background and the bright blue sun shining above.
It was such rich land with so much culture and history.
It also helped massively that the video Clara was watching had a six foot man jogging up the dirt path with sweat dripping from his exposed torso, a heart rate monitor around his upper stomach.
She could see the fine lines of his surgery scars through his tan, but she could also see the defined muscle groups from his shoulders down to his legs.
Romeo was very lean, very fit, something that was absolutely no surprise but still took Clara's breath away a little bit.
"Come on, everyone is already out there. I think we're late." Giulia urges as she passes Clara's cubby with her boots in hand.
Clara quickly puts her phone away and jogs after Giulia, brand new Predators in her hand. "Can I ask you something and can you not tell anyone?"
Giulia slows her walk cautiously. "Uh, I think so?"
"It's nothing bad." Clara promises with a nervous smile. "I just, I know you know the Morellis more than me."
"Not really." Giulia denies with a shrug. "Gia and Bosco maybe from them always being with Jenni last year."
"And Romeo." Clara adds on, having stalked Romeo enough to spot a group dinner in Rome last year that had both Romeo and Giulia in the picture.
"Ok." Giulia agrees, stopping just outside the door because she was very suspicious and didn't want anyone overhearing this. "Please tell me Romeo isn't the boy you've been texting and crushing on. The boy everyone teases you about in front of Kaia." She presses seriously.
"Is he single?" Clara counters quietly, basically confirming she was extremely interested in the teenage Morelli.
"Dio mio. (Oh my god.)" Giulia shakes her head tiredly. "I... I think he is single, I don't know."
"You don't know." Clara repeats to herself, knowing that it would be too easy if she did.
"Has he been messaging you?" Giulia asks, her voice holding the knowledge of something.
"Why?" Clara counters. "Do you know something?"
"I know Kaia picked me up from el bachi the other day and she was speaking to Romeo on the phone about a girl in Sicily." Giulia reveals.
"Georgina." Clara deduces.
"Yeah." Giulia chuckles, beginning down the path so they weren't too late or caught standing around while everyone was warming up. "She basically messaged him not too long after his father passed to say she was there if he needed to talk, but Kaia was saying how this girl was just using it to try and get back in his life, she was disgusted honestly."
"So Kaia doesn't like her?" Clara hopes.
"Kaia hates her." Giulia answers, and that said more than enough about the person Georgina was.
Kaia didn't hate anyone without reason.
"And Romeo didn't seem too interested in seeing her again." Giulia carries on, the two of them stepping onto the pitch where warmups were already in place. "He just wanted Kaia's advice because he didn't want to be rude."
"So he speaks to her about girls?" Clara realises slowly, unsure about how Kaia might react to her being brought up in conversation.
Giulia chuckles, like she knew what Clara was thinking. "Don't worry, I doubt he'd mention you anytime soon unless you're seriously getting to know him."
