Claire: be at home between 9am and 11am today.
Kaia: why?🤔
Kaia: is there a hitman on the streets looking for me?
Claire: you spend too much time with María
Kaia: maybe because I'm married to her🤷♀️
Claire: I've been told there is a package coming for you, I've cleared it but I won't ruin the surprise
Kaia: oh, how fun!
Claire: I know you will, but post about it as a thank you to the company
While Kaia was at home waiting for the mystery delivery, Mapi was pulling her car up into her old parking spot at the flat.
It was strange being back, a strange reminiscent feeling when she looked towards the building and around the unfrequented carpark.
She remembered meeting Luca for the first time in his Spider-Man costume right here, surprising Kaia with her new motorbike in the garages to the left, and running in from the pouring rain but being dramatic enough to pull Kaia to a stop at the top of the stairs and kiss her while they got soaked.
It was all so fond that it put a smile on Mapi's face as she casually scaled the steps, past Lucy and Ona's floor and towards the place she used to call home.
She hadn't been here since their new tenants moved in a month ago, so she was expecting it to be all kinds of weird to see another couple's furniture decorating the space.
Knocking calmly, Mapi patiently waits for Nina who opens the door with a smile of greeting mixed with relief.
"Thank you so much for coming." Nina says gratefully, stepping aside for Mapi to enter the neat and tidy hallway. "I just have no idea what the issue with it is, Joao isn't home and I figured it's best to text you instead of calling an electrician or plumber or something."
Mapi makes her way through the flat, trying not to be nosy and judge decor or stare at personal pictures. "It's ok, it's done it before." She says as she opens the airing cupboard door and flicks a switch on the wall. "You just need to reset it, it trips sometimes as a safety feature to not overheat the electrical box. You must've manually turned the hot water on right after it had finished heating up." She explains.
"Oh." Nina blushes in embarrassment, but at least she could then laugh at herself. "I feel stupid for asking you to come over just to flick a switch."
Mapi shrugs as she turns back around. "I was passing anyway from the dentist, it's no problem."
"At least let me get you a drink." Nina offers guiltily.
"Um..." Mapi takes a glance to her watch. She wanted to get home to watch the 12pm kickoff, but Kaia had told her to be nice to their new tenants and watching football wasn't really an excuse to leave. So with a forced but appreciative nod, she accepts. "Sure, but can it be water?"
"Did you get an injection or something at the dentist?" Nina wonders teasingly, heading towards the kitchen and hearing Mapi follow.
