345. Breaking Point

Leah didn't make it back to the house until 10:30 at night, when Mapi was falling asleep with Fabian curled into her chest and Kaia was getting fresh milk ready for the twins nighttime feeds.

They'd need feeding every 2-4 hours, with Nikolás being the one who fed the most with how small his stomach was.

But they both just had full bottles, so Kaia led Leah into the bedroom and around onto her side of the bed where the cot sat.

Leah was excited to see them in the flesh for the first time, but she also took a second to admire Fabian in his matching pyjama set, clung to the front of Mapi with the edge of his nappy stuck out at the back.

"How is he?" Leah whispers when she notices Mapi's heavy eyes move towards her.

"Clingy." Mapi whispers back, her own arm pulling Fabian that little bit closer.

"Leah," Kaia reaches for her best friend's hand, tugging her over to the edge of the cot where Aurora and Nikolás lay with no space between them.

In fact, their arms were locked around each other's and their heads were turned toward the other, a bond so natural that Leah just stared unblinkingly.

"Kaia, they're..." Leah breaths out, not being able to tear her eyes away from them. "Oh my god, they're perfect."

"Yeah, they are." Kaia agrees, glancing over to her wife in bed who was staring at her with a happy smile. "Just wait until you can look them in the eyes."

"Their eyes are brown?" Leah deduces.

"They're a little murky at the minute." Kaia explains. "But yeah, they've got Mapi's gorgeous chocolatey brown underneath."

"They do not." Mapi groans from the bed, grinning and hiding her blush in a kiss she places on the top of Fabian's head.

"God," Leah rolls her eyes with a massive smile. "Just when I thought you guys couldn't get more in love."

"I love her more and more each day I get to be with her." Mapi replies without missing a beat.

Kaia purses her lips to try and hide her smile, but she ends up having to look away towards the window.

"My ovaries are literally fluttering being in the same room as you pair..." Leah begins to back up slowly. "So... goodnight, I'll meet you guys tomorrow maybe for lunch?"

"Yeah." Kaia clears her throat, the smile still very much on her face. "Yeah, I'll text you when we're done at the registry office."

After registering the twins births, applying for ETD's and visiting Grace in hospital again, it was soon Tuesday night where Kaia was back with her country and leading the team out against Australia at Wembley.

Mapi was back at the townhouse with the children, Elinor and Matteo both there to help her but she was honestly very good at handling all three babies.

Kaia knew she had married the perfect woman, but seeing Mapi feed Aurora with one hand while massaging Fabian's stuck up feet and telling him a story gave Kaia so much relief.

They weren't overwhelmed.

Fabian still woke with a smile and got his morning cuddles even if he did have to squeeze past babies.

He was still read to sleep every night and he still asked his mothers to play even if they had a baby on them. 

Mapi felt just the same as Kaia, because she was in complete awe when she watched Kaia change both twins nappies at the same time, one straight after the other while making them giggle.
