In the gap between league and Champions League games, Kaia and Mapi planned their annual Christmas trip to Manchester to see Kaia's family; this time with their son who was about to experience a first proper winter.

Mapi made sure to order Fabian a waterproof thermal bunny suit in the week prior, putting the delivery address as Kaia's parent's house just to make it easier.

They were only staying for two days since they had to be home in preparation for their home game against Manchester City, but the weather was said to be quite cold and icy.

Like when they usually fly, Fabian was very curious and peered out the window a lot to watch the ground below, 'ooo'ing every time he saw something of interest.

But the moment they stepped out into the cold for the first time, Fabian shuddered and his mouth grimaced dramatically when the wind hit his face.

Luckily Elinor was there with her warm car to pick them up, driving them straight to hers and Matteo's house for them to get settled into Kaia's childhood room.

"Wow, it smells nice in here." Mapi compliments with an intrigued smile, taking off her coat and shoes by the front door.

Elinor hums, proudly. "I'm making the Christmas cake today, just melting a few of the ingredients over the hob."

"So basically, what you smell is a lot of brandy and rum." Kaia chuckles to her wife, keeping Fabian on her hip since this house wasn't baby proofed.

"Wow." Mapi repeats as she eyes the archway that leads to the kitchen, but she takes Fabian from Kaia so the brunette could take her coat off too. "Did you bring his nappy bag in from the car?"

"Yeah." Kaia glances left and right, pointing to where she placed it out of the way. "Do you want to change him while I grab our suitcases?"

"Sí." Mapi agrees, already picking the bag up in her other hand. "It is too cold for me." She fakes a shiver while trailing up the stairs with Fabian.

"She'll never not complain about the English weather, will she?" Elinor chuckles.

"I heard that!" Mapi's voice echoes from upstairs, followed by chuckling which means she clearly finds it funny.

Or maybe she's amused by the fact Elinor and Kaia have to go back out into the harsh wind while she stays in the warm house.

It didn't take long to change Fabian and take his outdoor layers off, so Mapi got to making the bed of the beautiful cot Elinor and Matteo had bought for their visits.

Neither Mapi nor Kaia had seen it in person until now, and Mapi was very impressed by the smooth wooden structure and supportive mattress.

It wasn't as good as the one they had back home, but it was much better than a travel cot.

"Oh wow." Kaia enters the room and her eyes immediately fall on the cot. "It's a good job the room's big enough, that cot is massive." She chuckles as she heads closer.

"It's a good job you grew up as a rich girl." Mapi retorts with a wink back at her wife.

Kaia chuckles, wrapping her arms around Mapi's waist as she looks through the window on the other side of the cot, at all the frosted fields. "I'm still a rich girl, baby." She teases, paired with a kiss on the top of Mapi's clothed shoulder.
