I woke up to the ringing of my alarm clock. Those dreams were still haunting my thoughts, what did they mean? Maybe they were memories? No, they took place back about 500 years, there's no way they're memories. Maybe, I'm spending too much time at Higurashi Shrine, who knows. Anyway, if I'm going to surprise Kagome, I better get ready for school; I can sort out my dreams after. I got ready, grabbed my books and Kagome's gift, and headed downstairs to leave. "Bye, Mom. I'm leaving." I said as I poked my head into the kitchen. "My, aren't you early. Usually, it's Ayumi whose waiting for you, not the other way around." She said with a light laugh. I rolled my eyes, "I can get ready when I want to. Not to mention, I wanted to go see Kagome before school." "I know dear. Be careful, tell Kagome 'Happy Birthday' for me." She said. "I will, bye." I said as I opened the door. It was a nice morning, but something felt off about it. I put that thought aside, closing the door and heading off to meet Kagome.
I walked down the sidewalk until I reached the shrine gate for the Higurashi Shrine. I knew the way almost without looking because I helped out here after school most afternoons and on weekends. It was where I felt the most at home. Not to mention, it was where I met Amaya for the first time. I was admiring the shrine until I felt something strange and heard Kagome scream. I ran up the steps, finding a terrified Sota just outside the Well House. He was calling for his mother and grandfather, whatever happened must have frightened him. I ran up to him and hugged him. "Sota, tell me exactly what happened." He explained everything, starting with him and Kagome looking for their cat, Buyo, to the scratches in the well, then to the lights bursting through the well and grabbing Kagome. I put my bag down outside the well house. "Alright, I'll go get her." I said. "She's not in the well, I looked." Sota stated. "I know, but I'm still going to try. See you guys later." I said before walking into the well house. Everything about this screamed demon, but I don't know why. Demons have been gone for hundreds of years, haven't they? With that terrifying thought, I closed my eyes and jumped into the well.
I opened my eyes when I landed on solid ground. I looked around finding I was in the well, but it wasn't inside the shrine anymore. Something next to my foot caught my eye. It was an arrow, covered in what I'm sure was blood. I examined the arrow further, slowly coming to realize this arrow is the one I pulled from my shoulder and threw into the well, all those years ago. I put the arrow back on the ground and stood up feeling a sudden burst of pure energy. I used it to jump straight out of the well and into an open field. I felt myself changing, and with the change came a small memory: The Sacred Tree.
