It has been three years since our battle with Naraku came to an end. Three years since the Sacred Jewel was wished from the world and three years since Kagome returned to her world permanently. In that three years, a lot has happened. Sango and Miroku have had two children, a set of twin girls, and are expecting another child. Rin began living with Lady Kaede so she could be adjusted to living with humans if she chooses to live with them in the future. According to Lady Kaede, though, that doesn't stop Sesshomaru from bringing her gifts from his travels. I, of course, returned to the Village of Half-Demons and married Ryu. I am now their village priestess and chief healer. Koneko has been my shadow since then, as well. She has moved in with Ryu and I along with our two daughters. Our oldest daughter, Kimiko, has been growing up along with Sango and Miroku's children because I still visit the village often. She also adores InuYasha, which doesn't surprise me. It did surprise me, though, that he was pretty good with kids, considering how I had seen him act around Shippo. Speaking of Shippo, he has been training for the Fox Demon Exam and has gone up the ranks exponentially each year. Kohaku has been training as a demon slayer, accompanied by Kirara. I was glad to see how everyone had grown and changed, but something still felt like it was missing. I never thought that missing piece would come back, until now.
I arrived at Lady Kaede's village in mid-afternoon. Sango had her baby the day before, it was a little boy this time. I had joined Lady Kaede and InuYasha in gathering ingredients for remedies and such. We had been talking about what happened that day three years ago. InuYasha had made a very mature explanation of things. Lady Kaede made a comment, wondering when he had become such an understanding and caring person. That was when Shippo returned and was surprised by it too; I wasn't, though. Sure, InuYasha could be rude and selfish sometimes but he really was a caring person. Shippo had advanced a lot further than most fox demons his age, which I was impressed by. He also asked if InuYasha was still going to the Well every three days. At least it wasn't every night, anymore. At that moment, InuYasha kicked Shippo so hard he disappeared into the sky meaning he had unintentionally hit a nerve. Soon, Lady Kaede left, leaving InuYasha and I alone. He was just staring off into the horizon, thinking about Kagome. So, I left him alone for the night. The next morning, we were all together. Sango and Miroku were doing laundry while the twins and my daughter 'played' with InuYasha. The twins were pulling on InuYasha's ears, while Kimiko watched and laughed from InuYasha's knee. I was glad it wasn't me this time. Aki, my other daughter, was asleep like she normally was during these trips. It was peaceful until InuYasha stood up all of a sudden, throwing the girls onto Shippo to 'slay him'. I was really confused until I caught a scent I had almost forgotten. I told the others what was going on, causing Miroku to pick up the twins while I picked up Kimiko. We rushed to the Well to find InuYasha standing there with Kagome in his arms. We were all so glad to see her. After three long years, Kagome was finally home.
