Mom came up and hugged us once we had fully entered the living room. "Kaya," she asked, "have you made your decision yet?" I nodded. We all three sat down around our coffee table, waiting for someone to talk first. After about five minutes, I broke the silence. I started the hourlong conversation of me trying to explain why I was leaving without mentioning demons or the Sacred Shikon Jewel. To be honest, I didn't want to leave but I knew I had to. I had to try and make amends for what I did. Trying to explain that without fully explaining it was more difficult than fighting demons.

After our conversation was over, we all went to our rooms. When I got to my room, I closed the door and started packing my things. After a little while, there was a knock at my door. "Come in," I stated, continuing to pack things up. "Kaya, I have something for you," Amaya said, sadly. I gestured for her to sit down on my bed and went to sit down next to her. She handed me a neatly wrapped package. I opened and began to tear up. It was the kimono I had been wearing the day I came here 15 years ago. "You kept it all this time," I asked, "why?" "Well, it was something special from the day we met. I had originally planned to give it back if you ever had a little girl, but it seems I won't get to see that day so I wanted to give it back to you before you leave." She explained, holding back tears. "Thank you, mom," I said as I hugged her close. We stayed like that for a little while before she got up to leave. "Mom, I really will miss you," I said as she was opening the door. "I'll miss you, too, dear. Be safe with whatever comes next for you." Amaya said as she closed the door, leaving me alone once again. I folded the small kimono and put it in my bag to take with me to the past. After that, I finished packing my things and decided to go check on Ayumi. I knocked on her door and she told me to come in. "Oh, Kaya, it's you." She stated when I entered. She was sitting at her desk, probably studying. "Yeah, I wanted to see how you were doing and ask you about something," I said, sitting next to her desk. "I'll be okay. I just hate to see you leave, knowing I'll probably never see you again." Ayumi said, sadly. I stood up and hugged her, "I'll see you again someday. I know I will." She nodded in response. "What did you want to ask me about?" she inquired after I let go. "Oh, I was wondering if you wanted my school uniforms and clothes. I know it would be easier for you if you want them. Plus, I wanted to give you this." I placed the good luck charm I had made on her desk. "It will bring you good luck." She smiled sadly and picked up the small charm, "thank you, Kaya. I'll take your clothes and uniforms." I smiled, "okay, I'll leave them on my bed when I leave tomorrow." She nodded while standing up. Pulling me into a hug, she replied. "Bye, sis, I'll miss you." "I'll miss you, too, sis. Good luck." I replied. We broke the hug and I left heading towards my room. When I got there, I closed the door and got ready for bed. I had a long day ahead of me.

The next morning, I woke up to my alarm clock. I pulled it from its place on my nightstand, hit the off switch and put it back in its place. I got dressed and finished getting ready to leave the modern era. After I had my bag packed, I headed downstairs to see Ayumi off. Mom and Ayumi were in the kitchen talking about me leaving. They sounded so sad. "Good morning," I said as I walked into the kitchen. "Good morning, Kaya," Amaya said warmly. "I have to go. See you after class." Ayumi said. Amaya and I waved while watching Ayumi leave for class. "When are you leaving?" Amaya asked once Ayumi was gone. "After school ends, I'm going to meet the others at school and say good-bye," I explained. "Okay, dear. Are you packed?" She questioned. I nodded in response. She nodded, as well. This was getting harder by the second.

Just before school let out, I walked over there to tell the girls good-bye. It was hard to explain to them why I was leaving but they seemed to understand. My only problem was Kagome knew exactly what was going on and so it made things slightly more complicated. After our talk, we went our separate ways to go home. Ayumi, Kagome and I walked in silence until we reached Higurashi Shrine, where we said our good-byes and parted ways. When Ayumi and I got home, mom hugged us both. After we broke apart, Ayumi and I went to our bedrooms. I grabbed my bag and double checked everything before writing out a note for Ayumi and mom, telling them one final good-bye. Once I was finished, I went downstairs and out my front door. With one final look at my house, I headed toward the Higurashi shrine.
