(A/N: Starting with this chapter the language will be most present tense, instead of past tense like previous chapters.)

I woke up at Master Totosai's cave several days ago. According to him, I had been out for about a week and he wasn't sure I was going to make it. Totosai is a Demon Sword smith who forged Father's sword, Tenkari. Myoga was also there when I awoke. Myoga is a knowledgeable flea demon, who is also an old friend of my Father. Master Totosai saved me when the demons attacked, and he is letting me stay with him. Yesterday, he even let help him with a weapon he was forging. It was for some kind of powerful demon, but I'm not sure what kind. Myoga has been trying to help me get through the grief over the past couple of days. Both have been very kind to me and when I'm completely healed, I intend to repay their kindness.

Days have turned into weeks and weeks have turned into months. I have grown pretty happy here with Master Totosai and Myoga. Two days ago, Myoga helped me find a forest, so I could make a bow and some arrows to practice archery, like I used to with Mother. We ran into a snake demon, so I ended up beating with a stick. Master Totosai started laughing when we returned and explained what happened. I was just glad I got to make a bow and start practicing today.

Spiritual arrows are a lot harder to do than they look, and since I'm trying do them on my own it's a lot harder. Myoga and Master Totosai are nice, but neither of them is very happy with spiritual arrows; even if they are really weak, inaccurate spiritual arrows. In their defense, I did almost shoot Myoga along with an arrow. If I hadn't heard his terrified scream, I would have. I also may have caused an arrow to ricochet off an unfinished blade right past Master Totosai's face. I never said I was good at this.
