Chapter 26: The Shattered Jewel and the Fabled Tetsusaiga

I arrived at Kaede's Village at dusk. Kagome and InuYasha were still in the village, which surprised me. As far as I knew, Kagome had gone home to her world. What was she doing here? I figured I'd get the answer when I found Kagome. I came to Kaede's hut and moved the door a little and saw Kagome, Kaede, and InuYasha, so I entered. "Hello, Kaede. Hey, Kagome. InuYasha." I greeted. "Just where the hell have you been?" InuYasha demanded. "Why do you care?" I retorted. We glared at each other for a moment before I went and sat down near Kagome. When I sat down, Kagome and Kaede continued their conversation. I wasn't really listening because I could still feel InuYasha glaring at me. I decided I was going to try and focus on something else, so I pulled out the jewel fragment and started to examine it. It was now a pale pink instead of the dark pink-purple it was when I found it. Something about it felt strange like it was emanating a kind of power. Kagome's gasp brought me out of my thoughts. "What happened? Are you okay?" I asked in a panic. "Yes, but Kaya, where did you get that?" Kagome inquired. "I found it after I killed a demon on my way back here. Why?" I questioned. I already knew the answer, "It's a fragment to the Shikon Jewel, isn't it?" Kagome looked down, embarrassed. That's when the conversation began.

Kagome explained everything that had happened over the past week. Apparently, she shattered the Sacred Jewel with an arrow. So, now she and InuYasha are searching for Jewel Fragments. They also took down a demon who called herself Yura of the Hair, who stole the first fragment. Plus, I missed a huge battle between Sesshomaru and InuYasha. Which resulted in InuYasha taking possession of the demon sword, Tetsusaiga, and severely injuring Sesshomaru. Man, did I miss a lot? "So, you're leaving the morning?" I asked when Kagome was finished. "Yes, do want to come with us?" She questioned. "No, she's not." InuYasha stated. "I hate to say this, but I agree with InuYasha. I can't, no this time. I've been gone for a week, so I should probably head back to our world." I explained. Kagome nodded and smiled. "I'll see you when I can. Before I go, here. It saves you the trouble of collecting it, later." I said and handed the Jewel Shard to Kagome. I stood up and headed towards the door of the hut, "Bye. Be careful, all of you." I said and left to head towards the well.
