Chapter 49: Joining the Team

Unfortunately, I had the pleasure of getting kicked in the side again. "Would you stop doing that?!" I growled at the Panther demon. "Learn to dodge, mutt!" He replied with a smirk. Our battle began, each time either of us advanced the other dodged the attack. I still wasn't focused because all I could see was Koneko. I had to snap out of it. I glanced over at InuYasha who had been attacked by all four Panther demons at once. The perfect distraction was to focus on InuYasha and helping him and his friends. Drawing my sword, I began to concentrate on them and started turning the battle in my favor. The demon actually started getting mad, he unleashed a torrent of mud sending it in my direction. I used spiritual winds to disperse the attack, causing him to attack head-on with his sword. Out of the corner of my eye, I could see Sesshomaru and InuYasha fighting. It distracted me long enough for Yemon to get a good slash in on my right arm. I growled in pain before using spiritual winds again. He dodged, so I did something he wasn't expecting, I dropped my sword, pulled an arrow from my quiver and released it. Granted it was only in his general direction because I was trying to get the attention of InuYasha and Sesshomaru. It did, however, distract Yemon long enough for me to get jump up and give him a very well-placed punch to the face, sending him into the ground and knocking him out cold. I put away my sword and ran to where InuYasha and Sesshomaru were fighting but on my way, I noticed The Panther demons were combining their power causing me to stop. As I raised my sword to attack, I watched in horror as the Leader of the Panther tribe devoured three of his own people and was fully resurrected. I sheathed my sword and started running again to reach InuYasha and Sesshomaru. Before I had reached them, they were already in the midst of battle. I fired several spiritual arrows before I realized they weren't working and pulled out Tenkari while running in. After we had been pushed back, Sesshomaru jumped forth with Tenseiga in hand, slashing the Panther Demon across the chest. This caused the demon to laugh but once he tried to attack, the Panther's fur withered away once more. Sesshomaru instructed InuYasha to finish off the demon using Tetsusaiga before leaving the battlefield; to which InuYasha obliged. Once the Panther Demon was down he went and took back the Jewel Shards. As this happened, I watched as the three members who were killed by their master, awaken. I don't think I will ever understand Sesshomaru. When InuYasha turned to the demons he asked them if they wanted to continue their battle, but they declined. Shortly after that, we left the castle grounds, heading to Kagome and the others who were waiting in the village outside the castle.

We stayed in the village until morning, as we were leaving the villagers thanked our group, mostly. Us demons were standing just outside the village, talking casually. That is until InuYasha and Koga start arguing. Kagome put a swift end to that and after flirting with Kagome, Koga left along with his companions. As I was about to leave I heard InuYasha said my name. "What is it?" I replied. "Do you want to join us?" He asked. "Really, you want me to come with you?" I questioned. "We can't have you falling into Naraku's hands again, that's all," InuYasha stated. "I see. You want to make sure I don't betray you again." I replied. InuYasha didn't argue with my statement, so I continued. "Sure, I'll join you. Just don't expect me to follow your orders."
