When my alarm went off the next morning, I got up and started getting ready for school. No one said a word to me or each other so everything was strangely quiet when I got downstairs. Ayumi and I walked out the door and started walking to school in silence. When we almost got to the corner, Ayumi turned to me with sadness filling her expression. "I just don't understand, you disappear for three months and come back to tell us you're leaving forever. Why even come back at all?" "I knew that it couldn't have been easy on either of you, especially after the police got involved. I just wanted you both to know I was okay and that I had missed you both. So, I could say one final good-bye to my mom and my sister." I stated while pulling her into a hug. We stayed that way for a moment before I noticed someone come around the corner. "Kaya? When did you get back?" Kagome inquired. I pulled away from Ayumi before answering. "Last night. I see you're feeling better." Kagome nodded before walking in the direction of the school. We met up with Yuka and Eri shortly after that, walking in silence the rest of the way to school. When we walked up the building, the first bell rang, and we walked to our classroom to take our seats. Before I got there, our teacher stopped me. "Good morning, sir. What can I do for you?" I asked. "You are needed in the main office because of your absences." He instructed. "Yes, sir, I'm on my way," I stated and headed to the office. Expelled. With all my absences and the fact my grades were mediocre at best, I should have seen it coming but whatever. Now I have to wait until school is over to talk to anyone, which puts a damper in my plans. Oh, well it couldn't be helped.

I didn't think it was possible. A school day actually goes slower than normal if you have something to do. Going home wasn't an option at the moment, so I decided to wait for the girls to get out of class by sitting on the roof of the school. When I went up there, no one was around so I figured it would be a good place to stay until school was out. After what felt like a lifetime, the final bell rang for the day and I watched the girls walk out the front doors. I jumped down off the back of the building and ran around to catch up with them. "Hey, wait up!" I yelled after them. When I caught up with them, Yuka asked me what happened this morning. I explained that I had been expelled because no amount of work could catch me up. The girls nodded and we began walking home, something we did surprised me though. We stopped to get food and talk like we used to sometimes after school. The conversation was mostly about classes and such, so I zoned for the most part but soon things started to get interesting. Apparently, Kagome had been telling them a little about InuYasha. I couldn't help but laugh a little when she started talking about Koga and Miroku. When Yuka, Ayumi, and Eri started jumping to conclusions, I started laughing even harder, that is until Ayumi asked about Caleb. It startled me. I hadn't even thought once about Caleb in months because the only thoughts I have had were of Ryu; especially recently. "Caleb hasn't crossed my mind in a long time, not since our date several months ago. Besides, I have feelings for someone else." That's when our conversation started again. Let me tell you trying to talk about Ryu without revealing stuff that happened in Feudal Japan is extremely hard. Luckily for me, the conversation didn't last long, and we left to head home.

After we went our separate ways, Ayumi and I walked the rest of the way home in silence. This was going to be harder than I thought. When we walked in the door, we met mom in the living room where she was again looking at the photo from last night. "Hello, girls, welcome home." She said, putting down the photo. I actually saw what it was this time; it was a picture of me in about the third grade, playing with Kagome, Yuka, Ayumi, and Eri. This had been my home for so long, but I knew I didn't belong here. Not anymore anyway, and as much as I wanted to stay I knew I was literally a thing of the past. So, I knew I had to say good-bye, for good.
