Chapter 30: Naraku's Strange Errand

The next morning, Kagome tried to convince me to stay with them, but I knew I couldn't. For one, I didn't want to be around InuYasha that long. Not to mention, I still had a Jewel Shard in my possession, and I didn't want to risk exposing myself. So, they went in one direction and I went the opposite. I hated every part of this, but I didn't feel like I could trust either side. So, if I play my cards right, I'll learn the truth and figure out who I can trust. Until then, looks like I'm hunting Jewel Shards for a dude who gives me the creeps.

All of this is easier said than done. Another few days have passed and nothing. No demons, no humans, nothing; just silence. It made me feel uneasy; especially after Naraku appeared. "I was wondering when you were going to show up." I said, throwing him the Jewel Shard. "Very good. I'm pleased you didn't give it to the priestess." He stated. "Yeah, yeah. What else did you need?" I inquired. "I need you to go to a fresh battlefield and find me a human arm. A left one, to be exact." He said. "Why? What use do you have for a human arm?" I questioned. "You'll see soon enough. I'm sending this with you." He removed what looked like a hive from his baboon pelt, and a winged insect flew out. "I'm assuming this thing is going to bring you the arm once I have it in my possession?" I said in an annoyed tone. He nodded, "Do not fail me." I rolled my eyes and he disappeared. Man, Naraku was getting on my nerves. Finding Sacred Jewel Shards is one thing, but now he has me looking for the left arm of a human. What is he planning? I'm not sure I want to know.

I went through roughly four battlefields before I found what I was looking for. That's more death than I ever want to see or smell again. After I had it, I gave it to the insect and watched it fly away. I probably should have followed it, but I honestly didn't want to. Whatever Naraku was planning, he was executing it on his own. I'm just going to see where things take me from here. Maybe, even figure out why Jewel Shards are invisible when I possess them. Looks like I'm visiting Totosai.
