We returned to the castle at dusk, giving the Slayers little time to get ready. I had a bad feeling about all of this but couldn't do anything about it. To make it worse, Lord Hitomi ordered me to guard his father, who was in charge of giving the Demon Slayers their full assignment. To be honest, I only partially paid attention until the demon came. It didn't take long for the Slayers to destroy it, but at the last minute, something went wrong. The young boy that had accompanied them, started attacking his comrades. I took a step forward to try and go help but the other guards held me back because the Lord was apparently enjoying it. It took me longer than it should have to notice the demonic aura surrounding the old Lord. About the time I noticed, the young Lord slashed him with a sword and killed the real spider demon. All of the Demon Slayers in the castle had been killed by this time. If only I had figured it out sooner, they would still be alive. Shortly after that, I helped the other servants bury the Slayers in a corner of the garden, with tears falling the entire time. I screwed up again, and it cost the lives of these Demon Slayers. How could I have been so foolish?!

The next morning, early, I went to the garden to place flowers and incense in front of the burial site. As I was saying a prayer to ease their spirits, one of the Slayers popped out of the ground. A couple of the servants and I both called for someone to help the girl into the castle. I helped get her situated into a room and helped patch up her wounds, before being ordered out by the Lord. I had just taken my place outside Lord Hitomi's room when Naraku returned. "My Lord, it seems a half-demon has attacked and destroyed the Village of Demon Slayers." Naraku stated. "What was this half-demon's name?" Lord Hitomi inquired. "His name is InuYasha, my Lord." Naraku stated. Just then the young Demon Slayer emerged from her room, "Take to me to this InuYasha. I shall kill him and avenge my comrades." "You shouldn't be up moving around yet. Your wounds are not healed." I stated. "It doesn't matter. I will not die until my people are avenged." The Demon Slayer stated. "I will accompany you then if you insist on going." Naraku stated. "My Lord, could I have permission to accompany them, as well?" I asked. "Yes but return as soon as it is over." He replied. "Of course, my Lord." I bowed before heading towards the Demon Slayer's room to help her prepare.

We set out at midday. I knew this was all a lie, but I had to find the perfect time to expose it. If I did it too early, Naraku might kill the girl. If it was too late, I might get InuYasha killed. My face making contact with a tree brought me out of my thoughts. I grumbled and continued walking. The Demon Slayer, whose name I learned was Sango, collapsed against a tree shortly after. Naraku offered her one of his many Jewel Shards, to help ease her pain so she could keep going. She accepted, reluctantly. I still hadn't figured out what Naraku's motive was, besides killing InuYasha and the others. It took us a while, but we met InuYasha and the others in an open field. Sango threw her weapon at InuYasha and the battle ensued.

I bet you thought I did something heroic, like stop the fight between them, but no I ran back towards the castle. I followed orders like Naraku wanted me to, and I had never regretted something more. I knew I should have stayed behind and stopped the fight, but I knew I wanted to be the one to kill Naraku when the time was right. So, for now, I had to do what he said to stay close to him and figure out his plan.
