I ran until I reached the clearing in the forest near the Sacred Tree. Kagome was standing on some roots looking at a boy around our age. He appeared to be sleeping or dead, but a memory told me otherwise. "Kagome. You really shouldn't be up there." I said, rather loudly. Kagome turned towards me, "Kaya, is that you? You look different." "We can address that later but for right now we need to go," I said urgently. Just as she was about to move, arrows pierced the Tree around her. I watched from nearby as villagers came into the clearing and captured her. When they were gone, I realized exactly where I was and promptly fell from a tree. I followed their trail until I came to the village and realized everything was calm. That is until someone noticed me; I entered the first hut I came to and fortunately, found Kagome talking with an old Priestess. "Kaya, why do look so worried?" Kagome asked. The old priestess had been watching my every movement since I entered, what I'm guessing was her hut. "Why are you watching me?" I asked. "Kaya was your name. Was it not?" the old Priestess asked. "Yeah, so?" I said, confused. That's when my body did something out of instinct and I sniffed the air. Familiar scents and memories flooded back to me and that's when I realized something. "Priestess, you're Kaede, aren't you?" I asked. "Yes, it has been 50 years since we last saw each other," Kaede responded. "Wait, you two know each other?" Kagome inquired. "Yeah, I used to train with her and her sister when we were children," I explained. The three of us continued to talk for some time until the sun was low in the sky. I felt my ear twitch on its own, "Something is coming." After that sentence, something crashed at the other end of the village. All three of us walked outside and came face to face with a giant centipede demon.
