You woke up in a panic, sweat covering your wet forehead. You felt numbly around you, unable to remember the events that had led up to you waking up in the middle of an unfamiliar basement.

You tried to stand up, but fell weakly back against the cold floor.

"Hey," someone placed their hands on your arms, and you thrashed around. "It's okay!"

You stopped thrashing as soon as you recognized the voice. "Theo?"

"It's me," he said, his breath hot against your ear. "I'm going to turn on the light, alright?"

"Yeah," you exhaled.

Theo's warmth disappeared, and you heard a light switch click on. The appearance of his face was a sight for your sore eyes.

"What's going on?" You asked, recognizing your surroundings as his basement.

"Here," he placed his hand on your elbow and helped you stand up. "Let's sit on the couch."

Theo led you through a carpet and onto the soft, red couch.

"Do you remember anything?" He asked.

You shook your head.

"Do you remember becoming a Chimera?" He asked.

"That was a long time ago," you said.

"Do you remember dying?"

You looked at him for a second, and laughed nervously. "What?"

"You died of mercury poisoning," Theo said. "Don't you remember?"

"If I died, how would I be here right now?" You doubted him.

"Because I brought you back," he whispered, putting his hand on your cheek.

Chills ran through your body. "How long?"

"What?" He asked quietly.

"How long has it been since..."

"Oh," he said. "It's been a few weeks."

"What does my family think?" A tear fell from your eye.

"They think you're missing," he answered.

"Oh my God," you put your face in your hands and more tears escaped.

"It's okay," Theo put one hand on your back. "I would never let you die."

"I have to find my family," you lifted your head up.

"That's not going to be easy," he said calmly.

"Theo, what are you talking about?" You asked, breathing hardly.

"The Doctors don't know I brought you back," he explained. "They'll kill you if they find out."

"I don't understand," you said.

"You understand just fine," he said. "You just don't want to believe it, but it's going to be okay. I would never let anything happen to you."

"Why not?" You asked, looking into his brown eyes.

"Because I love you," he said, putting his hands on the back of your neck and pulling you in for a kiss.
