You stared across the hallway. She tucked her hair behind her ear, and he laughed at something she said. You dug your claws into your hand, unsuccessfully trying to stifle the growl coming up your throat.

"Sucks, doesn't it?" Liam stood next to you. "But I would control my eyes if I were you."

You blinked, changing your yellow eyes back to their natural color. "Theo and Hayden," you mumbled.

"Yeah," Liam sighed, understanding exactly what you felt.

"Do you think it's because they're both Chimeras?" You asked.

"I'd like to think it's just Theo being Theo."

You looked at the boy next to you. "You really hate him, don't you?"

"I don't understand how you're so infatuated with him. I mean, look."

"He's not as bad as people think," you said.

"Yeah," he said in a non believing way. "I'm sure he's a real saint."

Liam left your side, and when you looked back up at Hayden and Theo, they were laughing again. Despite the fact that every single one of your was in danger every second of your lives, they still seemed to find a way to laugh. Maybe that was why he seemed to hang out with her so much, because you were so serious.

The bell rang, and everyone ran into class. Except them.

"What are you talking about?" You asked monotonously, approaching your boyfriend and the unnecessary Chimera.

"Just Josh," Hayden answered.

"No one asked you," you snapped.

She raised an eyebrow and crinkled her nose. "Actually you just did."

"Actually," you imitated her voice. "I was talking to Theo."

Hayden scoffed exaggeratedly and took off down the hallway, fuming.

"What the hell is wrong with you?" Theo asked angrily.

"Me? What the hell is wrong with me? What about you with your little Chimera girlfriend? You can just go trotting around with whoever you want, but if I so much as speak to another guy, you'll kill him. Yet I try to defend myself against girls who you love to occupy your time with, and I'm the villain?"

"You didn't have to be so rude."

This time, it was your turn to scoff and storm away. In the heat of the moment, you hated her. You hated him. Your eyes turned uncontrollably yellow.

"Wait," he called after you.

You turned around on your heel, glaring at him. "What?" You hissed.

"I'm sorry."

You felt your eyes turn back. "For what?" You crossed your arm and tapped your foot impatiently.

"I'm sorry for hanging out with other girls," he stepped forward and took your hands in his. "I'm sorry for treating you like a possession. I'm sorry for acting like you didn't exist. And most of all, I'm sorry for being a giant douche bag."

"You are?"

"I am," he said, taking you into his embrace, and not letting go.
