You watched from afar as Peter sat in the center of the party, three girls surrounding him. He had told you before that he never really liked any of these girls, but it was the definition of an "open relationship". He wanted to be with you, but he wanted to be with a lot of other girls too.

You were happy with the idea at first. You thought that you were going to be the one with commitment issues, but you had been acting like he was a box of Michel Cruizel chocolates. He kept telling you to go out and have some fun without him, but you felt as if you would be betraying him. He obviously didn't feel the same way about you.

"Looks like you're having fun," a boy from school plopped down next to you on the couch. You felt guilty for not remembering his name.

"Yeah, just hanging out with my amazing boyfriend," you gestured towards Peter.

"Oh," he said, half amused. "He's a... he's a keeper."

"You're telling me."

Peter threw his head back and laughed at something one of the girls said, and then he glanced over at you. When he saw the boy, he stopped laughing and his mouth clamped shut.

"Excuse me, ladies," you watched his lips.

Peter stood up and put down his drink, which you were sure was sprite, because Peter wasn't as slick as he made himself out to be. He patted his shirt, straightened his shoulders, cleared his throat, and started to make his way over here.

"That's probably my cue to leave," the boy the said, leaving as quickly as he had come.

"Who was that?" Peter came up to you.

"Who are they?" You retorted.

"We're in an open relationship. Remember?"

"Yes, Peter. I remember, and that's exactly what I'm having- an open relationship. I'm dating you, and I'm talking to that guy over there. Just like how you're dating me, and rotating between Charlie's Angels."

"Well," he pouted. "I don't like when you do it."

You stood up and grabbed your purse. He took your wrist before you could go anywhere.

"I'm sorry," he said quickly. "I'm sorry. I know it seems like I don't care about you, and I know that I come off as a little bit of a douche sometimes, but I love you, alright? And I don't love a single one of those girls. They're just distractions because, like I said, I'm a douche. I'm having trouble with the whole dating thing. I'm not used to having just one girl, because I've never cared about anyone as much as I do you. But if this isn't working out, and if I'm making you hate me, then I'll officially declare this a closed relationship."

"Wow," you said. "You talk a lot."

You wrapped your arms around his neck and pressed a passionate kiss to his lips. He kissed you back, softly.
