Our newest mission was simple. They gave us a name, Nick Fury. We find him, we kill him.

"How close." My partner asks me as we wait on top a building. We never spoke to each other unless it had any relation to our target. I've spent most of my time assassinating people with him, for god knows how many years. I only knew him as the winter soldier, so in my mind I nicknamed him Winter.

I search through all the minds within blocks from here. I can feel him, I search deeper so I may see what he sees. He's close.

"Twenty seconds." He readies his gun and I stand behind him and wrap my arms around his chest.

He leaps from the roof and we plummet to the ground. Right before we get close enough to the ground his metal hand grabs a street lamp. We're about 20 ft from the ground so he releases his grip and lands firmly on the ground.

I unhook myself from his chest and we walk right into the traffic. We get into position just as a beat up Suv turns the corner headed straight for us. I stand a few feet behind him and he loads his gun.

Winter shoots a large metal disk at the approaching target. I see it latch itself on the bottom of the car and sets off a fiery explosion, completely flipping the car over.

The car is still moving closer, but we both step aside at the last second.

Now that I can get a better look at the car, I can see the hundreds of bullet holes covering every inch. None of which seemed to kill the target. The car stops and he starts walking back, reloading his gun.

I trail behind him as he walks back to the car. People around us are running and screaming at the sight of us. I pull a gun out, just in case this guy wants to put up a fight.

We reach the car and he rips the door off the car with ease. I whip up my gun, but there's no one in the car.

Just a cut out hole in the roof of the car and the street.

He's gone.

We failed the mission.

We've never failed.

+

Winter was in a rage ever since Nick escaped. I was plenty mad too, this has never happened before. No one ever escapes us.

We followed another person for the rest of the day, Steve Rogers, our leader informed us he may have knowledge of where he might be.

I had a strange feeling when I heard his name... There was something about it... Just so strange.

I push my thoughts aside and concentrate on his mind. He's feeling conflicted, and questioning.

We're hiding in the building across from where he is, it may be too far to see through his eyes.

I push even harder, every bone and muscle in my body focused on him. I'm about to give up and an image rushes through.

It's him, he's there.

"He's in there," I tell Winter. "Just through that wall." I point out to him.

He walks to the open window and aims his gun.

Don't miss. I think to him.

"I won't." He speaks.

I return to Steve's mind. I can see through his eyes again. He's speaking to Nick, but I don't pay attention to the conversation.

The gun shot rings in my ears and the target falls to the floor.

I open my eyes and Winter looks at me for confirmation.

It's done.

We break out running. We make our way to the roof and don't stop.

I can sense someone near, focusing on us. I don't stop running, but enter his mind.

It's Steve, I feel him underneath us in the building.

We jump off the roof and land on a building half it's size, we keep running until there is a whooshing sound and Winter stops.

I stop too and turn, Winter seizes the shield that had been thrown at us, catching it in his metal arm.

Back off. I think to him. I might not have been as kind if I didn't have a weird feeling about him.

As if on cue, Winter chucks the shield back at him with an alarming force.

I wrap my arms around Winter, he jumps us off the roof and away from sight.

AN: I just wanted to add that when she is speaking telepathically with someone It'll always be italicized.

Also, the video is something i found on Youtube, this also happens to be one of my favorite songs. I get chills just watching it.

Edit: fair warning, I started writing this when I was like 14, I know it's not the best and has a ton of errors but it was my first really successful story and I'm proud of how much work I put into it
