"I'm a fire starter, I'm a sweet disaster."
- Fire Starter, Demi lovato
I am in a heavy black cloud. Nothing to see. Nothing to hear. Just this heaviness in my whole body. So heavy that I cannot move. I can't remember how to open my eyes.
There is a swift and sharp pain in my chest and I jump forward, eyes wide gasping for air. I groan and my eyes dart down to my chest. A very large looking syringe stuck to me.
I grab the syringe and yank it from my chest. "Son of a bitch!" I cuss at the pain.
I drop the needle and look at my surroundings. I remember this room. Where Cal had nearly killed us all. I was in a similar bed and there were people standing around me. Jemma, Fitz, Skye, even Coulson. All of them staring at me.
"Thank god...." Jemma sighs. "I'd thought we'd lost you for sure."
"What the hell did you stick me with?" I ask her with a grimace.
"Just some adrenaline." Fitz answers for her.
"Do you have a garbage can?" I ask no one in particular. I start to feel dizzy and by now I know what's coming next.
"Uh, yeah, here." Fitz grabs a can by the bed and holds it out to me.
I take it from him and only a moment passes before my head is bent down and I lose the only thing left in my body. I wipe my mouth and fall back against the bed.
Jemma rushes to my side. "What happened? You were only gone a week."
"I'm pregnant." I say motioning to my small but noticeable baby bump. "And if you can't fix me soon, then I'm gonna die." I deadpan, getting straight to the point.
All of their expressions vary from shock to pity to confused.
"I still don't understand," Jemma says again. "You can't be this far along. It's not humanly possible."
"Good thing I'm not human." I smirk trying to hide the pain. "I haven't kept anything down in days, so you have a limited time to fix me."
"No pressure." I add.
"Simmons, make sure there is someone with her around the clock." Coulson directs with his one remaining hand. "I have to go." He says before exiting.
"Fitz...." Jemma looks towards him for help.
"You're better than I am at this, Jem." He says apologetically.
"Okay," She sighs. "Where to begin...... You mentioned you haven't eaten recently, correct?"
"Yeah. It's like a trojan war in my stomach." I grit my teeth.
"Alright, we'll start there. There has to be a reason the fetus is rejecting nourishment...."
Skye comes closer to me eyeing my stomach. "Maybe it needs a different form of food."
"Like what?" Fitz asks.
"Of course!" Jemma exclaims. "Daisy, do you mind?" She asks looking at Skye.
"Wait, I thought your name was Skye?" I ask confused.
"Well it was, but-"
"You really need to pick one, I don't wanna do this every time we meet."
"Do you think you can copy Daisy's powers?" Jemma asks me.
"Maybe, if I'm not too dead. But this super-soldier copy is the only thing slowing my death so I'll stick with this."
"Alex," Jemma places her hand lightly on mine. "I need you to trust me."
I'm still not sure where she's going with this, but I am running out of options.
"I don't trust anyone." I state. "I'll do it though."
"Okay, great." She smiles. "Take Daisy's hand but don't copy her just yet."
Daisy's and my hands lock around each other's wrist and I wait for Jemma's instructions.
"Now, when you copy her don't disconnect from her, keep absorbing her power." She instructs me.
I sigh. This is most likely gonna kill me. I focus on her powers and my eyes start glowing bright blue. I get a weird tingly feeling as the super-soldier copy leaves me and is replaced with a weird vibration feeling.
Some of the pain starts fading and I can feel energy returning to my body. I notice Daisy wincing out of the corner of my eye. I break our connection and let go of her arm.
"How do you feel now?" Jemma asks anxiously.
"Better, actually." I admit. I no longer have the desire to puke and my headache has dulled.
"The fetus is developing at a phenomenal rate, it needed something with more energy to develop." She says fascinated. "It must've been absorbing your energy. Which would explain why you were so sick."
She walks out and returns a moment later with some high tech looking gloves. "Here put these on, they'll keep your new powers under control."
"I'll be fine." I tell her.
"These new powers could bring this entire facility down, and you have no idea how to control them." She persists, still holding the gloves out to me.
"I'm not gonna make a crack in the wall." I say obviously. "I don't have to 'learn' control with new powers. I just have it." I shrug.
Daisy looks at me strange. She looks extremely confused and leaves the room.
"What's her problem?" I ask Jemma.
She sighs and looks away sadly. "She's just jealous I suppose. The Inhuman transition wasn't easy for her."
"Oh," I didn't realize what it was like to just wake up one day with powers. I've had them my whole life.
"I'm going to bring you some food. Hopefully the fetus will let you eat now." She says optimistically. She walks out, leaving me alone.
With everyone gone, I pull out my phone, but keep it hidden behind my leg.
I scrolled down my contact list and stopped when I saw Steve's name. I continue scrolling till I come to Bucky's. I only put in a B, in case anyone went through my phone.
A - I'm gonna be okay. I'll see you soon.
B - Thank god, I love you.
A - I love you too.
AN: Yay, happy chapter!
