"And while my heart beats I promise I won't let you down."
- Concrete Angel, Christina Novelli
The trip back was absolute hell. I haven't been able to keep anything down and I can feel my body slowly starting to shut down. I'm only stopping to see Bucky for a moment. I don't have enough time for anything else other than to tell him I'm pregnant.
I stumbled into the front door of our new apartment and locked the door behind me. I lean with my back against the wall, hunched over from exhaustion.
"Buck!" I call out. "It's me."
I hear footsteps but I can't find the energy to even hold my head up to look at him.
"Hey, what's wrong?" He asks concerned, gently trying to steady me with his arms. He puts his hand under my chin forcing me to look him in the eyes. "What happened?"
"We don't have much time." My voice cracks from the dehydration, my body wouldn't even accept water. I'm really starting to hate being pregnant. "I need you to listen."
I slide down to the floor and grab my bag, pushing it to him. "I've planned out at least thirty safe houses for the next couple months. You need to go and stay on the schedule in the bag."
"What? No, are you crazy? I'm not leaving without you!" He argues. "Tell me what happened?"
I moan from the sudden sharp pain from my stomach. I quickly crawl over to the kitchen garbage can and vomit. I can feel Bucky behind me, trying to comfort me.
It stops and I squeeze my eyes shut and I start coughing. I open my eyes and there are spats of blood in the can. This is getting worse than I thought.
"Yes, you are leaving." I cough. "Long story short, I'm pregnant, and I think it's killing me."
Bucky is crouched down next to me stroking my hair but stops when I say 'Pregnant'.
"I-I.... I did this?" He asks horrified, his eyes gazing at my already showing belly.
"This isn't your fault, Buck. And we don't have time to debate this either. I know someone who might be able to help, but you need to get as far from here as possible."
He's still in shock and I hate piling all this on him right now. This guilt he's feeling is only going to make him worse.
"I'm not leaving you." He pushes.
"The people I'm going to for help will lock you up if they see your face, Buck. You're not coming." I say with my jaw clenched.
I reach over in the backpack and hand him a cell phone. "Here, I'll call you when I find out more, and you call me if anything happens."
I close his hand around the phone and shove the backpack at him again. "I love you, and I need you to trust me."
His eyes are tearing up and he cups the back of my head. Pressing his lips to my forehead. "I love you. Don't you dare stop breathing."
"I promise." My voice barely comes out as a whisper.
I just hope this wasn't the last time I saw him.

Once Bucky was far enough away I used Jemma's brain wave amplifier to find her. My entire body was weak making it ten times harder to find her.
Once I locked on her mind I could see her. She was at S.H.I.E.L.D.
Jemma.... I need you to find me.
Alex? Where are you? What's wrong?
Mongolia..... Hurry, I don't have much time left.
I disconnect my mind from hers and close my eyes. Laying my cheek against the cold tile floor. I soon lose consciousness from the all the energy spent finding Jemma.
