"And I'm walking on a wire, trying to go higher. Feels like I'm surrounded by clowns and liars."
- Just Like Fire, Pink
To say I was nervous was a huge understatement. I was terrified. So much was on the line. Worst case scenario, Steve learns the truth and Bucky gets captured. Best, I get out of here without them suspecting me.
It was my first time being our new Avengers compound so I wasn't sure where to go. I mostly just wandered around admiring how nice it looked. No one was here as far as I could tell. Where was everyone?
I walk down some more halls till I find a room that peeks my interest. From the doorway I can tell exactly who's room this is. The drawings lined up against the window tell me as much that this is Steve's room.
One particular drawing catches my eye. It's very fragile looking and old but you can still see clearly the monkey. I can't believe he held onto that all these years.
Something is buzzing in my ears and my hand flies up to my ear, thinking it was just a mosquito. There's nothing there and the buzzing continues. I do my best to ignore it and leave Steve's room.
I finally come across a room with people, but It was the last thing I expected to see. There was music playing while Sam and Wanda were mimicking a neon person dancing on the tv. What the hell did I just walk in on?
I let my bag fall to the floor and Wanda turns to me. "Alex!"
She runs over and leaps into my arms. If it were anyone else I might've been pissed, but Wanda has become like a sister to me.
"I'll never understand why people do these things for fun." I comment once she lets go of me.
"Don't be so uptight." Sam tells me, planting himself on the couch.
"I'm not uptight, I just don't see the point."
"It's fun," Wanda insists. "You should try it."
I back up and shake my head. "Yeah, that's never gonna happen, I don't dance."
"Chicken..." Sam mutters under his breath. I probably would've flicked something at the back of his head but the buzzing came back, making me twitch.
A blaring alarm goes off and red lights start flashing throughout the building. "What's going on?"
Sam jumps up and Wanda freezes. "Someone tripped the alarm." He explained before sprinting away.
I look over to Wanda who looks mildly scared. "Stay here." I tell her and run after Sam.
Sam quickly grabs his suit and flies out the back door. I grab my staff and follow him.
I leap up the side of the building and roll across the pebbled roof. I stop crouched, staff raised ready for anything. Anything, except nothing. There wasn't anything in sight.
Sam is a few feet to my right and looks around. "I had a sensor trip, but I'm not seeing anything." he says into his ear piece.
My eyes keep searching the roof but there isn't anything to see. "It's okay. They can't see me." An unfamiliar voice says.
I use my radar and finally lock on the voice. There is a small man in a red suit. Not small like, to small to date anyone above 4 foot 9. Small like the size of an ant.
"We can see you." Sam states.
"They can see me." He says defeated. Who is he talking to though?
There is a slight blur and the guy is full size now. I presses a button on the side of his mask and it opens. "Hi, I'm Scott."
"What are you doing here?" Sam demands. Why ask when I can just read his thoughts?
"First off, I'm a big fan of you both." He stalls. He's a fan of a hundred year old assassin?
"Appreciate it." Sam says. "So who the hell are you?"
He stands up taller and proudly speaks. "I'm Ant Man."
"Ant Man?" I say trying not to burst out laughing at his ridicules name.
"What you haven't heard of me? No, you wouldn't have heard of me." He realizes.
"You wanna tell us what you want?" Sam demands again.
I roll my eyes and extend my radar. I press fast forward on his thoughts and hundreds of images go flooding through my mind. This dude has a pretty shit life. Other than having a few visits to jail, he had good intentions.
He needed something here and I wasn't in any position to refuse him. But Sam was.
"I was hoping I could grab a piece of technology. Just for a few days. I'm gonna return it. I need it to save the world." He tells us. "You know how that is."
"I know exactly how that is." Sam says unconvinced. "Located the breach, bringing him in." Sam radios.
"Sorry about this!" Sam reaches forward to grab Scott but he disappears again. He jumps back up in his small form and knocks Sam in the air. Ha, I like this guy.
I skip over to the side of the roof and sit down on the edge, letting my legs dangle over the edge. I watch Sam fumble around in the grass while he gets his ass kicked by an ant.
He starts randomly shooting in the air, making me giggle. This was nice, I didn't laugh much these days, it was nice to have these moments.
"A little help here!" Sam hollers at me.
"Sorry!" I apologize. "I'm too busy being uptight!" I pull out my phone and immediately start filming him.
Scott jumps up back to his normal size and wraps his legs around Sam's neck dragging him to the ground. Scott somehow manages to turn on Sam's jet pack and drags him across the grass.
Scott disappears again and Sam follows him to a storage unit underneath me. "I hate you, Rogers." Sam says sending a look up to me.
"Likewise, Wilson." I smile, continuing to film him.
He comes flying out moments later without any control over his wings. "He's inside my pack!"
He flies around some more before crashing down in the grass, ripping it up. Scott is gone now and Sam stomps over to me.
"What the hell was that?" He demands.
"Well, while you were busy questioning Ant Boy, I actually got a look in his mind. He was telling the truth." I explain. I lean forward and slide down from the roof, landing next to him.
"Or, are you really mad because you got your ass handed to you by someone the size of a grain of rice?"
He glares at me before stomping back inside. I walk back inside smiling and Wanda hasn't moved an inch, looking extremely worried.
"What happened?" She asks.
"Nothing." Sam grumbles.
"It was hilarious!" I laugh, pulling out my phone. "I got video!"
I stop smiling and my breathing hitches. I get a sudden pounding in my chest and the buzzing got louder.
Little black dots swarmed my vision, the corners of my sight slowly fading into black. I didn't even feel it when I hit the ground, I couldn't even make out what the voices were saying. The world crashing around me in a messy blur and everything went black.
AN: I loved the Falcon cameo in Ant Man, I just couldn't resist writing this :D
