"You watch me bleed until I can't breathe, I'm shaking falling onto my knees."
- Stitches, Shawn Mendes
My fingers felt behind my shoulder for my staff. I'd almost forgotten it was there. I'm getting too comfortable with my powers, and I couldn't tell if that was good or bad.
"You two are different." A voice came from behind me. He put his hand on my shoulder, making me turn to face him.
"You didn't have this distance between the two of you." Bucky says.
I shrugged and looked away. "People make mistakes, people change." I muttered.
"I don't know if I can make it up to him. I've done some horrible things." I sighed.
"So have I." Bucky reminded me. "But, he's still willing to do all this for me."
"You didn't betray his trust." I said, patting his shoulder and walking past him.
Steve was waiting just at the end of the hall. His hand on the switch to the door. I barely glanced at him, and he opened the door.
The ramp let down, and our faces were smacked with a blistering cold breeze. Maybe the cut off sleeves on my suit weren't a good idea. I cautiously made my way down the ramp, and started walking through the thick snow.
The base was just up ahead, and I could see it clearly even with the snow blowing around in front of me. I'll never forget this place. This cursed place. It's probably the closest thing to hell on earth.
Once we made it to the entrance, I noticed something. The door was already open. He's already here. God knows how much damage he's done by now. I agilely took my staff from my back and held it out in front of me.
We slowly crept inside, my eyes wandering in every direction. There wasn't much to see besides the elevator at the end of the hall. Once we were inside, I wanted to leave. This was a small awkward space, and Steve looked like he was remembering something.
The elevator finally let us out, and I lead the way down the next halls. This place was huge and confusing, but I remember where everything was, every crack in the pavement.
I only made it up a few steps of the staircase before I heard banging coming from behind us. My body moved faster than I though possible, raising my staff in an attack position above my head. Bucky was right in front of me pointing his rifle at the elevator, and Steve held up his shield and the bottom of the stairs.
The elevator doors slowly opened. They weren't actually opening, they were being pried apart by Tony. Great, just who I wanted to see right now. He pulled back the mask covering his face and slowly started walking towards us.
"You seem a little defensive." He said.
Steve slightly lowered his shield and walked closer to him. I however, didn't move so much as an inch.
"It's been a long day." Steve replied.
"Adeise soldier, I'm not currently after you." Tony said glancing at Bucky. Bucky didn't lower his gun.
"Then why are you here?" Steve demanded.
"Maybe your story's not so crazy," Tony admitted. "Ross has no idea I'm here I'd like to keep it that way, otherwise I'd have to arrest myself."
"I'll try not to mention it when we have tea." I said sarcastically.
Steve lowered his shield completely and nodded. "It's good to see you, Tony."
"Me too, Cap." He said with a small smile. He looked back over to Bucky and I, then rolled his eyes. "Hey, Manchurian candidates, you're killing me. There's a truce here, you can drop them." He said waving his arms around.
I lowered my weapon a little, and continued to walk down the hall. "We're close." I said.
We almost made it down the rest of the hall. Almost. As I was checking the rooms along the way, I came up to one with the door missing. I peered inside, then quickly realized it was a mistake, stopping in my tracks.
Inside was a single chair. A chair with shackles on the arms and legs. A chair with dried blood covering it and the ground around it. I let out a few uneasy breaths and slowly back away. Unable to tear my eyes away. I could feel my heart racing, ready to pound right out of my chest.
Bucky, who was behind me, quickly realized the situation. He stepped in front of me, blocking my view of the room. He dropped his gun and grabbed both my shoulders, forcing me to look at him.
"Hey, hey! Just look at me! You're fine, I'm right here with you! Just breathe..." He said in a soothing voice.
I nodded and took deep breaths. I just focused on his eyes, and they never left mine. I breathed in and out.
3rd Person POV
Steve and Tony had just been watching helplessly from the side. Tony was surprised, he'd never seen her act this way. He'd never seen that kind of fear in her eyes. He didn't think she was afraid of anything.
Steve on the other hand, was worried. He too had never seen that fear. He glanced into the room. The chair stained with blood. He soon realized it was her blood. He couldn't even begin to imagine what had happened to her. All the pain she endured.
He looked back at his sister, just as she was getting her breathing back under control. Even though he had a lot of anger pent up against her, right now, all he wanted to do was comfort her. But he couldn't, only Bucky could.
Alex POV
Once I got over my stupid panic attack, we wordlessly continued down the hall. This time, Bucky taking the lead.
"I got heat signatures." Tony says.
"How many?" Steve asked.
"Uh, just two." He says confused. There's only two, there's supposed to be five...
We walked into the room further, and the lights from the pods flicked on. Bucky and I's were empty. The remaining ones had bodies inside, but they weren't frozen anymore. They all had bullets in them.
"If it's any comfort, they died in their sleep." A voice said over the PA. "Did you really think I wanted more of you?"
I looked at all of the pods, seven total. Bucky and I were missing, but there are only four dead bodies in the pods. The other was missing. No....
"Well," The voice chuckled. "Maybe just one."
Then something attacked me, hitting me in both the face and stomach. Before I could defend myself, my staff was knocked from my hands and I could feel arms wrapping around my body, one hand holding a knife to my neck.
I felt the attackers breath in my neck. I felt like vomiting.
"Did you miss me, love?" Grayson chuckled in my ear.
