Lulu's POV
I haven't been back in this town since I'd moved away all those years ago to follow my dreams of being a painter. Living in the small town that I used to, I know that I wasn't going to be able to get very far if I stayed here, so I did the only reasonable thing that I could think of; I moved away from my family and friends to kickstart my life. Luckily, it worked out for me. I am doing quite well, everyone loves my work and I love making it. Over the past week my old friends that live in the small town have been bugging me constantly to come out and have a night out with them. I didn't really want to, my hometown held too many memories. Memories of my best friend Alan, I haven't seen him in years and I miss him more as each day goes by. They had told me that there was a carnival and I know that I'm not going to be able to get out of it, they missed me, so I agreed and told them that I'd meet them there around 4pm. I have to drive about an hour to get there but you were hoping that it'd all be worth it. As I got out of the car I watched as my friends from high school ran up to me and engulfed me in hugs. "Lulu, we haven't seen you in ages," One of them said. "Yeah, I know. I've been busy with work and stuff," I pondered.
Once they all gotten off of me, the four of us walked into the carnival, paid for our tickets and started to plan which rides we wanted to go on. Of course they wanted to go on the Ferris Wheel first. I got into one of the carriages by yourself, the carriages only held three people and the girls decided to go into one together. Shrugging it off, two other strangers got into the carriage with me and soon enough I was at the top of the wheel. As it went around another two times, I spotted someone with strangely familiar bright orange hair. I shrugged it off, no one in this town would be familiar to me, it's been years since I'd last been here. Getting out of the carriage, I saw my three friends standing there, talking away. I walked over to them and stood there, not really knowing what to do. "I'm going to get something to eat," I said as I walked away from them and then walked towards the food stands. It wasn't like they were listening to me anyway. I bought a hotdog and then sat down on some of the grass, away from where other people were sitting and began to eat. I drove an hour out here to be with a bunch of friends that didn't even care about me. Being back home would have been much better but I chose to come out tonight instead. Sighing, I looked up from the ground to see a bright orange haired boy, well man, standing in front of me. He looked a little nervous but when I looked closer I knew that he was a little more familiar than I first thought. He looked oddly like Alan. That couldn't be right, I haven't seen him in years, my mind is just playing tricks on me. "Hey, um -this might sound a little weird but I think I knew you when we were in high school," He began, "I'm Alan and if I remember correctly, your name is Lulu," Alan finished.
"I think I remember you too," I said, standing up. "We were best friends but I moved away," I explained further. "Yeah, I remember now. Lulu, it's been so long," Alan wrapped his arms around me and hugged me tightly. His hugs were just the way I remembered them; warm and soft. "You've changed a lot, in a good way," Alan smiled. "So have you, I don't remember your hair being this bright," I chuckled. "It's gotten brighter over the years."
The two of us sat down and told each other about what had happened in our lives since we'd split as friends. Alan was in a band now, that didn't really surprise me that much because he had always been into music and guitars. It made me happy to hear that he was doing something that he loved.
"It's getting late," I sighed, "It was great seeing you again though; we should catch up more often." He said. "For sure, and just in case, here's my number," Alan grabbed a pen out of his back pocket and wrote it down on my arm. "You couldn't have just typed it into my phone." I chuckled. "Nope, call when you get the chance, I'm usually free," He smiled. "I will, I really did miss you Alan." I said. "I missed you too Lulu, more than you could ever imagine." He said kissing my head. I blushed and watched him walk off.
