Memories Never Fade (Austin Carlile)

Riley's POV

I sat in the tattoo shop I worked at and blasted Of Mice & Men. I looked in the mirror at my shoulder. I had a tattoo of an anchor with the quote "You have many options in life never make giving up one of them". I almost gave up once but then Of Mice & Men saved my life. When you have an abusive home life and boyfriend. It makes you want to give up on life. But I've moved away from home and broke up with my boyfriend. I sat down in one of the chairs and pulled out my tools. I wanted another tattoo. I cleaned my thigh and started working. I made it in the shape of a & symbol and used cursive script having it say "Life will never put you through more than you can handle". I smiled at my work and looked up. I saw a tall man covered in tattoos watching me. "Your tattoos look amazing." He said. I blushed. "Yours look amazing too." I said. "Hi I'm Austin." He said reaching out his hand. "Hi I'm Riley. And I know who you are." I said. "I can tell by the tattoos." He said. I smiled. "Can I use you bathroom?" He asked. I nodded and pointed towards the bathroom. He thanked me and headed back there. I cleaned up my tools when all of a sudden my ex Andrew Whiting walked in. Yes Andrew from Attack Attack. I stood there in shock. "Riley, how's my beautiful lady?" He asked kissing me. "Andrew, we broke up. Please leave." I said politely. He then got angry. He started yelling and banging on the desk. I heard the door open from the bathroom. "Your such a fucking cunt." Andrew said slapping me across the face then punching me in the eye. I fell to the ground and curled up into a ball crying out in pain. I heard a thud then the sound of someone getting beat up. I heard someone get thrown out and then I was picked up from the ground. I looked up and saw Austin. He sat me on the couch in the lounge out back and went to get and ice pack from the freezer. He sat down and pulled me into his lap. He placed the ice pack on my eye. "What was that all about?" He asked rubbing my back. I sighed and told him everything. He kissed my head. "I will never let you get hurt again." He said. I put the ice pack down and cried into his chest. My eyes started to become swollen from crying. He started singing When You Can't Sleep At Night to me. He pulled my face up to his and kissed me lightly. "Your so beautiful and deserve to be treated right. Riley, I know we just met but will you be my girl?" He asked. I nodded and kissed him. That was about 20 years ago. Austin and I got married three years ago and had our daughter Ariel 16 years ago. Ariel was out right now with her boyfriend of one and half years Anthony. She hasn't seemed happy with him though for the past six months. I sat on the couch with Austin watching The Little Mermaid when Ariel came running into the house crying. Austin jumped off the couch and ran after her. I followed quickly. I looked inside her room and saw Austin holding her as she cried. I walked in and kissed her head. She looked at me and she had a black eye. Tears started to well up in my eyes. "He didn't." I said. She nodded. I headed downstairs to get an ice pack and call the police. I walked upstairs and heard Austin singing When You Can't Sleep At Night to Ariel. I gave him the ice pack and let them be. I sat on the couch and cried. Austin came back downstairs in thirty minutes. "How is she?" I asked. "She is fine now. She is fast asleep. How are you?" He asked wiping away my tears. "Upset. I never wanted this to happen to her Austin." I said crying into his chest. "Don't worry. She is a strong girl. Just like her mom." He said kissing me. I smiled. We headed upstairs to bed. I changed into my pjs and walked to Ariel's room. I looked at her and sighed. She didn't deserve this. I started to walk away. "Momma, is that you?" She asked. "Yess baby, what is it?" I asked. "Will you stay here tonight?" She asked. "Of course." I said. I walked into her room and crawled underneath the covers. She moved over and rested her head on my chest. "Dad told me about the day you two met. Mom if you got through this so can I. I love you." She said. "I love you too sweetie." I said kissing her forehead. I looked at the door and saw Austin standing there smiling. I blew him a kiss goodnight and he pretended to catch it. I tried not to giggle and I fell asleep. I'm glad I didn't give in all those years ago. Because if I did I would've never met the love of my life Mr. Austin Robert Carlile.
