Family Is Forever (Kenadee Lucker)

Zachary's POV

I stood side stage with my 5 year old son rocking out to my wife's band. It's 2035 and she is on her first headlining tour. I smiled at her as she sang. Her father had inspired her to sing. She has the most beautiful voice in the world. Her band's name is My Father's Glory. Today 23 years ago her father died. She got a tattoo of his owl on her shoulder but in smaller form. I heard the familiar chords start to play as they began their last song. It was the only cover they ever do. It is You Only Live Once. My son smiled and started dancing around like an idiot. He ran out on stage and did the famous Lucker stomp with his mom. At the end she picked him up and headed backstage. "You were amazing beautiful." I said kissing her. "Thanks." She said putting our son down. He ran off to play with his uncles. Kena sat down on the couch and placed her head in her hands and began to cry. I sat next to her and rubbed her back. "Kenadee, you know he loves you. He is always with you and is mostly likely one proud ass father." I said wiping her tears away. "I was five when I lost him, Zach I still miss him everyday. I just wish he was here to see this." She said. "Kena, he is seeing this. He is so proud of you. And look at Mitchell. I'm pretty sure is the happiest five year old in the world. He gets to spend everyday with his mom and have a blast. Just think about the positives baby. I know you miss your dad but I think maybe it is time to get some closure and move on." I said. She nodded and kissed me lightly. I entwined my fingers with her and we walked back to the bus. "Mitchell, do you want a bath tonight or tomorrow morning?" She asked. "Tomorrow morning please. I wanna play video games with uncle Kelton." He said smiling. She helped him change into his pjs and he went to play games. I held Kena's hand and we walked to my cousins house who lived nearby. She was shaking a bit and I kissed her cheek. We walked into my cousins house and my cousin smiled at us. She hugged Kena and pulled us upstairs. We all sat around in the attic while my cousin Julia did her work. Julia is a wiccan. I never practiced but I'm glad she does. Kena held my hand tightly scared of what would happen. I kissed her forehead and rubbed her back. The candles flickered and then Mitch appeared in front of us. Julia smiled and left the room. "Daddy." Kena said trying to hold back her tears. "Kenadee." Mitch said hugging her. I smiled and sat there watching them interact. "Daddy, did you see tonight?" She asked. "Of course honey, I have seen every single one of your shows. I've been watching you every day. I'm so proud of you baby girl." He said stroking her hair. "Daddy, I've missed you so much. Mommy misses you too." She said. "I miss you two so much. Parker says hi by the way. He is with me all the time now." He said. Kena smiled and cuddled into his chest. "Kena, are you gonna introduce us? Even though I already know who Zach is." He said. I chuckled. "It's nice to meet you." I said shaking his hand. "Nice to meet you too. Thank you for always being there and loving my daughter." He said. "She is really special to me." I said smiling. Kena blushed and smiled. Mitch smiled and his eyes were sparkling. "And Mitchell is very handsome you two. He is going to be mommy's little heart breaker and daddy's little rockstar." He said. I smiled. We always wanted Mitchell to grow up to be a rockstar like his mom and grandpa. Kenadee and her dad talked for awhile and she was smiling and laughing. "Kena, I need to go now sweetie. Tell mommy I love her and I'm waiting for her." He said. "I promise daddy." She said. He smiled at her and kissed her scars and kissed her cheek. "Tell my grandson I love him too. I will always be watching you Kenadee. I love you and I'm sorry I left you." He said. "It's okay daddy. I love you too. Just give me a sign now and then when your around." She said. He nodded. I remember back to our wedding night when she was dancing with Kelton. She said she felt someone kiss her cheek. Mitch looked at me and nodded. He knew what I was thinking. I hugged him goodbye and he disappeared. "Thank you Zach. This really did help me a lot. All these years missing him. I know he is always with me now and he is always watching over us. Especially Parker." She said smiling. I kissed her forehead and we headed downstairs. We walked back to the bus and Mitchell was sleeping on the couch in Kelton's lap. "Did you see him?" He asked. Kena nodded and smiled. "He loves you, Kelton. He misses us all." She said. I picked up Mitchell and tucked him into his bunk while Kena talked to Kelton. I laid down in our bed waiting for her. She crawled in and rested her head on my chest. "Thank you for tonight." She said. "You're welcome. I love you so much Kenadee." I said. "I love you too Zach. Goodnight." She said kissing my lips lightly. I kissed her back and fell asleep.

I wrote this on May 1st. It has been 6 months since Mitch died. I miss him so much. He is an amazing guy and will always be my hero.
