Veronica's POV

I watched my phone eagerly, praying that it wouldn't make a single noise. One of my friends, Chris, was supposed to be coming over tonight and I'm hoping that he won't cancel our plans. About three weeks ago, Ricky had gotten a new girlfriend. Usually this kind of thing didn't bother me but there was something about this new girl that I didn't like. For starters, she started sitting with me and the guys at lunch. I didn't mind it at first but she is making it harder for me to talk to Ricky, she is pushing me away from him. So I began to talk to Chris. Of course he noticed that something was up, I didn't tell him though. Around a week after Ricky started dating this girl, I began to get weird texts, mean texts from an unknown number. That number soon became known when I saw her sending a message [which I later received] on my way to the lunch table. The texts were constant, I never replied to them but it still hurt each time that I read a new message from her. I haven't talk to Ricky in a while now, I grew closer to Chris. I told my parents that the phone company kept stuffing up my phone bill and suggested that they get my number changed. My parents didn't know that I was lying so they agreed. Ricky didn't know the new number; I had changed it and told everyone that Ricky couldn't know it. Devin, Angelo, Balz and Ryan had no idea why I was avoiding Ricky all of a sudden and truthfully Ricky probably didn't know either. Chris knew though, and he knew that I was making the right choice and trusted my judgment. I spent every waking second just hoping that she wouldn't find out the new number. So far she hasn't, I was happy about that but it didn't stop me from stressing. I separated myself from the group of people who ate at my lunch table; once again Chris was the only one who knew why. I sat by myself near the library, the guys were practically allergic to that place; they'd never find me here. The sound of someone knocking on my door fill the room that I was sitting in. I pulled myself up from the couch and walked over to the door unlocking it and seeing two dark figures standing in front of me, one short and the other tall. "Chris." I smiled, wrapping my arms around the taller man. "Hey Ronnie." Chris smiled, wrapping his arms around my thin frame before letting go. A frown spread across my features as I saw who was standing next to Chris. Ricky. "What's he doing here?" I asked, trying not to sound too rude. Chris let out a sigh, Ricky was still silent. I let the two of them walk into my house, watching as the two sat down on one of the couches, leaving the other for me. "S-She broke up w-with me." Ricky mumbled. I didn't say anything. On the inside I was happy, really happy. She might have been out of my life for good. But in front of me was a broken person, someone who looks like they'd just lost everything. "I'm sorry Veronica, Chris told me w-what happened, y'know, what she was doing to you," Ricky began. I wanted to tell him that it was alright but he kept talking. "She was just looking through my phone one day, I didn't think that she'd get your number and start texting you, and this is all my fault." Ricky rambled, running his fingertips through his hair. "Ricky its fine, it's stopped now." I explained. "It only stopped because you changed your number." Ricky sighed. I didn't say anything; I just looked over at Chris who had a rather happy smile on his face. He was happy that the two of us were talking again. I didn't want to ask Ricky why they'd broken up, why would I ruin something that was just fixing itself? I stayed quiet and watched Chris, waiting for him to say something. "How about we watch a movie? How does Hocus Pocus sound?" Chris said, getting a DVD of out of my collection. No one said anything so Chris just shrugged and put it into the DVD player. Around halfway through the movie, Ricky had moved from sitting next to Chris and sat down next to me. Minutes later he rested his head on my shoulder. I didn't know what to do so I looked down at him to see a small smile spread across his face. I smiled down at him and hugged him tightly. He hugged back and we just sat there wrapped up in each other's arms. "I missed you Ricky." I said. "I missed you too Ronnie." He said.
