Addison's POV
As it was nearing the early hours of the morning, I grabbed my phone from under my pillow and unlocked it. This had become part of my night routine due to the fact that I have irregular sleeping patterns. Scrolling through Twitter, I saw nothing interesting, just the same old people tweeting the same old bullshit. Nothing ever changed, everything just stayed the same. Without my boyfriend things got really boring. I would go to work, I am a tattoo artist, and then come home and watch TV shows with my cat. It is quite sad actually. I didn’t really have much of a life without Devin and even when he was home I always did the same things. I would go to Disney World or watch movies but it wasn’t like I haven’t done those things thousands of times before. Devin was always on tour and with the different time zones he was rarely ever able to call me without me being asleep or at work. That probably also contributed to my sleeping problems but I coped with it nonetheless. Sighing at my boring and empty life, I put my phone away and attempted to close my eyes. Even though I wasn’t tired it was still worth a try. The house around me was silent but of course that silence had to be interrupted by the sound of my phone ringing. I grabbed my phone from under my pillow and answered it. “Hello?” I spoke with a sleepy voice. There was no response, only the sound of two people moaning on the other end of the phone. It took me a couple of seconds but I instantly recognized one of them as Devin’s and another as a girl’s. He must have called me by accident. Hanging up my phone, tears began to run down my face. I haven’t seen him in over a month and something like this happened. Tonight I cried myself to sleep; there wasn’t really a way of making my tears stop so that was really the only option. Devin cheated on me and if it wasn’t for his phone calling me then I wouldn’t have known. The next day Devin had tried calling me about ten times, each time I ignored them. Then he started sending me texts. I eventually turned my phone off because the texts didn’t stop coming. Judging by what his texts said, he had no idea that I heard about last night. I didn’t want anything to do with Devin and when he got back from tour I am going to end things. It was that simple. The day drew on slowly; I decided not to go to work today. I needed the day to recover from what I’d heard last night. I will be fine tomorrow and I’ll go to work like none of this had happened. Truthfully, I wish that it hadn’t. As I was getting up to make myself a cup of coffee there was a knock at the door. I out the cup down and I walked through my house until I reached the front door. Opening the door, I saw a familiar figure standing in front of me. “Addison,” Devin said with a smile. He went to hug me but I pushed him away. “What are you doing here, Devin?” I asked him as he frowned at my rejection. “You weren’t answering your phone or anything and I got worried so I flew over,” Devin explained. “What if I was at work?” “Well you aren’t,” He trailed off.
“Devin I know about what happened last night,” I told him plainly. “What happened last night?” He asked me as if nothing had happened. That hurt. “You had sex with someone else, you cheated on me, your phone accidentally called me, I heard everything,” I told him. “W-What?” Devin stared at me in disbelief. “I bet you didn’t expect that to happen. Devin, I want nothing to do with you, leave.” “Addison, I love you and I made a mistake,” Devin said quickly. He was sorry, I could hear it in his voice but I can’t get hurt like this again. “I don’t care, Devin. What’s done is done,” I sighed. “So this is it?” He asked me. I nodded my head. “When you get back from tour I want all of your stuff out of the house, if not I’ll move,” my tone was flat. I am tired and I wanted nothing to do with the man that I just spent the past two years with. “If that’s what you want.” “It is,” I replied. Devin nodded his head and left the house. “Just know that I’ll always love you, and I really am sorry.” Those were his last words.Six Years Later
“Camila! Parker! Get back here right now!” I yelled chasing my kids through the mall. They bumped into someone and walked backwards. I picked them up. “I am so sorry. They are just so excited because it is Christmas.” I said looking up. I saw I face I wasn’t expecting to see ever again. “Chris, you haven’t changed one bit.” I said. He smiled. “How’s it been Addison?” he asked. “Different but I am getting by. Do you want to go get a cup of coffee?” I asked. “I would love that.” He said. “Can you two behave while mommy and her friend go get coffee?” I asked. “Can we get cookies please?” Parker asked. “Yes as long as you behave.” I said. They nodded and I set them down. I held their hands and we walked through the mall to Starbucks. Chris and I ordered and sat down. Camila and Parker sat next to us at a different table coloring and eating their cookies. “So how has the band been?” I asked. “Great, we just finished up tour with Chelsea Grin, Stick To Your Guns, Upon This Dawning and Crown The Empire. You know we put out a new album?” he said. “I know, I own it. The kids listen to it every night. Our favorite song is America.” I said. “How have you been Addie?” he asked. “Still a tattoo artist and a tattoo model. I had these two troublemakers about six years ago.” I said with a smile on my face. “They are the only family I got. I love them so much. It would kill me if I lost them.” I said. “Addison, you have me and the guys. We love you like family.” He said holding my hands. I looked away. “Devin is the only problem. I still love him and I should’ve made it work but my stupid pride.” I said. “No Addison, you were right for what you did. If I knew he was doing that I would’ve stopped him and talked some sense into him.” He said. I smiled and wiped away my tears. “So are you going to tell him?” he asked. “Tell him what?” I asked. “That he has two beautiful children.” He said. I looked down. “I can’t. You know he has moved on. I can’t go ruin his life Chris.” I said. “You won’t be, Devin and Kylie broke up. He misses you a lot Addison. He keeps saying losing you was the worst mistake of his life.” He said. I felt my heart start to beat again. “I will think about it.” I said. “Mommy, look Santa!” Parker yelled leaping from his seat running off in the mall. I looked at Chris panicked. He picked up Camila in his arms and we ran after Parker. I saw someone pick him up. “PUT MY SON DOWN!” I yelled. The person turned around and wouldn’t you know it. It’s Devin. “Dev.” I said quietly. “Addie.” He said. He handed me Parker. “Don’t you dare run off again; I don’t want to lose you Parker. Do you want to get taken away from me?” I asked him. He shook his head no. I lifted him up and kissed his head. “Hey Chris, can you um come back to the house with me? You too Devin.” I said. They nodded and we all went to our cars. I got home first and released the children. God they have so much energy like their father. Chris and Devin showed up. They walked in and sat on the couch. “Hey Camila and Parker, why don’t you show mommy’s friend Chris your play room.” I said. They nodded and dragged Chris off to the play room. “Addison, I am so sorry for everything. I miss you so much. Please take me back. I am begging you.” Devin said getting on his knees in front of me. “Even with two kids that are a handful you want me?” I asked. “More than anything in this whole world.” He said. I got down on my knees and placed both my hands on his cheeks. I kissed him and he kissed me back. “I love you Devin but if you hurt me you affect the kids. You have to promise that things will work out this time.” I said. “They will Addison. I love you.” He said. I smiled and took him to my room. “I marked the wall each month I grew. I had my friend Dalia take a lot of pictures of me when I was pregnant and when the kids were born. But I want to show you this.” I said handing him their birth certificates. He studied them closely and his jaw dropped. “Their mine?” he asked. I nodded. “ADDISON, WHAT THE FUCKING HELL! YOU KEPT THEM FROM ME FOR SIX FUCKING YEARS!” he screamed. I fell back onto the bed. “Devin, listen to me, I had a reason to. We had just broken up and you guys were getting big. I didn’t want them to hold you back.” I said looking out the window as Chris played with the kids in the show. “I wanted them to have as much as a normal life as they could away from the media. They are happy Devin. They just want to know their father. They are happy with their normal life. It won’t be normal now but they will get over it. I just want us to be a family and I love you Dev.” I said. His face soften. “I am sorry. You are right. I am glad they have had a normal life. I love you too Addison.” He said. We headed to the door and slipped on our jackets. We went outside and the kids were having a snowball fight with Chris. “Camila.” I said squatting down in front of her. “Yes mommy.” She said in her cute little baby voice. “You know how you always wanted your daddy home for Christmas.” I said. She nodded. “Well Merry Christmas baby, go say hi to daddy.” I said looking at Devin. Tears formed in her eyes. She took off running towards Devin screaming daddy. He picked her up and spun her around. He kissed her head and held her close. “Daddy.” Parker said. I nodded. He ran over and hugged Devin’s legs. “Daddy is home and isn’t leaving for a long long time.” Devin said. The kids smiled. He kissed the kids’ heads and we all headed inside. I made hot chocolate and we curled up by the fireside. Camila in Devin’s lap and Parker in mine. Devin kissed me softly and smiled. “Merry Christmas Addison.” He said. “Merry Christmas Devin.” I said. Chris pouted. “Merry Christmas Chris.” We said at the same time kissing his cheeks. He blushed. “Oh you guys.” He said. We laughed and enjoyed our peaceful night.
