Let Me Die

Mello pov

"I still say we have a showdown so we can humiliate him." Near said as we all talked again later.

"Fine, do whatever you want. Just do it quick so I can die." I replied.

I was still lying in bed. I had lost all my energy and motivation, I just wanted this shit to be over.

"I'm not gonna let you die, Mello." Matt still insisted.

"Why not? It's what I want and it will help you catch Kira. Then Near wins as usual and I don't have to be a loser anymore. At least I'll be useful for once in my life."

"Mello..." Matt sounded distraught but I couldn't even care anymore.

"He has got a point." The sheep said, twirling his hair.

"Near, shut up." Matt snapped at him. "I can't deal with this, I need my girlfriend, I'm going to call Alizu."

At least he can call her.

The tears started again. Near looked at me awkwardly. I'd normally hate to show any weakness, especially in front of him, but I honestly didn't care anymore.

Maybe I'll be back with her soon. Does it work that way? Anything has to be better than this.

Matt came back in. "Near, get out."

When he'd left, Matt gave me a hug.

"Listen dude. I know you're depressed and I want to help you. But not by letting you die. It's not what she'd want either."

"If it's not what she'd want then why did she fuck off on me!" I yelled, sitting up to punch my pillow.

"That's it, Mello, get it out." He squeezed my shoulder.

"I can't." I broke back down into tears and collapsed into his arms.

"I'm gonna get you help, Mello. You're my best friend. Fuck the Kira case, you're more important. Alright?"

I nodded because there was nothing else I could do.
