Chapter 10

Mark is coming today and I'm a bit nervous. Even though I've been with mam just days, I can already aay that I love her and need her. She always gives me warm hugs and cuddles everyday and she's fun to be with. I also noticed that she already changed me. The old Max is quiet, a closed book and looks things in a negative way but now, I'm already smiling, giggling abd laughing which I've never done since I met mam.

Now, I'm in my room just staring at the ceiling waiting for mam to call me. If before, I want to go back to the orphanage now, I think, I'll be lost again. Suddenly, I heard the front door open and heard voices downstairs making me shoot up.

"Maxene, Please come down here for a bit babe!" Mam yelled from downstairs so I stood up and walk out of the room and slowly went downstairs. I felt Mark's eyes on me so I put up a smile when I faced him and act natural.

"Hi, Mark" I nodd at him and went over to mam giving her a kiss on the cheek and sat on her lap. I looked at Mark and he's looking me with raised eyebrows and I smiled at him.

"Max, you've changed" He said making me shrug.

"Uhm... I have questions for you" I nodded. " Is it true that Ms. Cheryl Cole here is your biological mother?" I looked at mam and saw her frown.

"Are you saying that my mother is a liar?" I squinted my eyes on him.

"W-N-No that's not what I meant?" He stuttered as I try to held my giggles.

"Oh okay, so I guess I've answered that" Mam rests her head on my arm as she bits her lip trying not to laugh.

"Are you content living here?"

"Yup" I smiled. He eventually smiled at me.

"Well it seems that everything is alright here." Mam look up to me and smiled." Ms. Cole, I would just like for you to sign these papers, so that Max's records will be removed from the orphanage." I stood up so mam can sign the papers. After that, Mark stood up and shook hands with mam and I accompanied Mark to the door.

"Thanks Mark, for putting up with me before" I said firmly and he ruffled my hair and gave me a thumbs up. I fixed my hair as he walks out of the door. When he's out of sight I closed the door  and run to the front room going towards mam and hugging her making her giggle.

"Thank you for finding me" I said as tears started to leak out of my eyes. She stroked my hair as I hugged her tighter. Mam pulled away and looked at me and wiped my tears.

"Thank you for letting me in" She whispered and kissed me on the nose making me giggle and I hugged her again feeling safe in her arms.

"Babe, I have a video shoot today for my new music, Do you want to come?" Mam asked while I was watching television. I looked at her with hesitation.

"Mam what if the guys with cameras are there?" Her face softened and sat beside me.

"I won't let them get near to you babe, I promise." I nodded and stood up running upstairs and into my room. I grabbed my inhaler on the bed and put on my hood and rushed downstairs.

"Just in case" I said as I showed mam my inhaler. She smiled and held my hand as we walk out of the house.

We arrived in front of the building and flashes started to burn my eyes. I looked at mam blinking trying to steady my vision. Mam handed me sunglasses so I wore them and waited in the car. Seconds later, the door opens and I heard calls and clicks from the cameras as mam started to go out of the car. I gripped my inhaler and put my head down as mam turned around helping me out of the car. She immediately puts her arms around me and we started to walk with big men on both of our sides. As we're passing, I can catch what some of them are saying.

Cheryl, over here

Cheryl, who's that girl your with?

Hey miss what's your name?

We finally got in the building safely. Lily came up to us and gave us a smile.

"Cheryl, you need to go get dress come on" She said as we walked through the hallway. We walk in a room and Lily started saying things I don't know about so I just sat on the sofa and look around.

I watch mam as she dance on the middle of a little crowd and I was amazed cause she's a great dancer and I didn't expect that. I look beside me as Lily joined me.

"Hey" She said and I smiled.

"Hi"

"So, How are things at home"

"Perfect" I grinned at her and she smiled at me.

"Tell me"

"Okay, after you left on the day when I was discharge from the hospital, We talked... I told her everything I've been through making me felt like a weight on my shoulder has lifted and since then I've changed." I smiled at her. "Oh and I realized something too."

"What's that?"

"I look like a skeleton" She smiled at me and stroke my hair.

"No you don't" I look at her in disbelief.

"Yes, I am. Here feel my back" I tirned around as I felt her hand on my back.

"I can already feel you touching my spine." I heard her giggle and turn back to her.

"Max, you just need to eat, that's all"

"That's also what my mother said." I said making us both giggle.

"What's so funny?" Mam said making me look at her. She's sweating and she's out of breath. I grab the bottle of water beside me and hand it to her.

"Thanks pet" She said before drinking the contents of the bottle as I smiled to her. Then I felt someone sat beside me so I look to my side and saw a man, I think he's one of the dancers.

"Hey kid, what's your name." He smiled.

"Max" I whispered.

"That name is dope" I frown at mam asking what he just said and she laughed.

"Leave her alone Drew" She said as she walked close to me.

"What? I didn't do anything?" He said. Mam planted a kiss on my forehead and sat beside me.

"Mam,are you done?"

"Nope, we have one last take then after that we'll go to the mall and buy stuffs. Is that okay with you?"

"Mam?" I turn to my side and looked at the man beside me, I guess his name is Drew.

"Yes, this one here is my daughter." I looked at mam and she winked at me making me smile.

"Wow" He whispered making me giggle at the same time someone yelled something making mam stood up.

"Maxene, were on for the last take, just wait for me here yea." She said and kissed the top of my head and with that she went off.

We finally got home after a long day. Mam and me went to the mall earlier to buy some stuffs and found out that she buys everything without looking at the price tag. I talk to her about it but she said she didn't care so I just shrugged it off.

I sat by the sofa bringing up my knees to my chest and turning on the television.

"Did you had fun today?" Mam said as she sat beside me. I nodded and look at her. She looks exhausted. Some of her hair is sticking out and her eyes are so tired. I got on my knees and move closer to her. I removed some hair on her face making her smile.

"You look tired, you should rest." I said as I sit straight looking at her. She looked at me and nodded.

"Oh wait, I almost forgot" She rummage in her bag finding something and brought out my gold necklace out. She moved closer to me and put the necklace around my neck.

"Don't ever take that off again" She placed a kiss on my forehead and I smiled at her.
