Chapter 23

Cheryl's P.O.V.

"Why are we here" Katy asked as we pulled over to the shops.

"I need to buy something, just stay here someone might see you." I said as I took off my seatbelt. She smiled and nodded.

"I'll be just a minute." I got out off the car putting my shades on and walk in the shops. I went to the sweets section and grab four packs of red vines and quickly paid for it. The cashier recognized me but luckily she just smiled and did her job.

"Thanks." I smiled walked out of the store and made my way towards the car and got in.

"What did you bought?" Katy asks as soon as I got in the car. I placed the bag on her lap as I started the engine and started driving.

"Red vines?" She smiled.

"Aye, she asked for it?" I smiled as I focus my eyes on the road.

"How old is she?"

"Sixteen"

"Why is she at the hospital."

"She had an operation on the heart." I whispered.

"Oh. Well, I'm glad she's okay." She said softly making me smile.

Maxene's P.O.V.

I'm all alone in the room right now, I already sent Kimberley home and it was hard to get her to go but I eventually convinced her that I was going to be fine and mam will be here soon. Or should I even call her that infront of Katy. Honestly, I'm a bit empty inside. I thought its better if no one knows who I really am but It didn't crossed my mind that I have to pretend to be someone who I'm not and that hurts me.

I was snapped out of my thoughts when I heard the door creaked open making me look up slowly towards the door and saw mam with a woman. I guess that's Katy.

Mam smiled when she turns to me but I just stared at her and can't bring myself to smile back at her.

"Where's Kimberley babe?" She asked as she made her way towards me Katy following behind her, and put a kiss on my temple.

"I sent her home." I whispered and gave her a small smile. She gave me an apologetic look and turn to Katy who's standing there with a smile on her face.

"Uhm, Katy this is Max and Max this is Katy."

"Hi sweetheart, how're you feeling?" She smiled as she sat by the bed. I stared at her for a bit studying her. She looks nice and sweet. She looks at mam then looked at me.

"Hi" I whispered and gave her a small smile as she sighed in relief making mam giggle.

"Here, what you asked for." Mam said as she placed the bag on my lap. I brought out the contents and my eyes widen as I saw four packs of red vines.

"Four packs?" I whispered making Katy giggle and looked at mam who's looking at us confuse.

"I can't eat all this. I only asked for one." I giggled.

"I just want to make you feel better, is that wrong?" Mam said with a huff making me giggle. I grab her arm pulling her close and give her a kiss on the cheek.

"Thank You." I smiled.

"You two are so cute." Katy said making us look at her and smile.

"Aye, she's my favorite girl in the world." Mam said softly making me smile a bit cause the thought of Katy actually knows that I'm mam's niece and not her daughter. I look up to Katy and I saw the way she looked at mam. There's definitely going on with this two.
