(No one's POV)

Luke just left to pick up Richard's car from Yale. Logan, Rory, Emily, and Lorelai are sitting in the waiting room, waiting for some news on what's going on with Richard.

Logan and Rory just had offered to go to Emily and Richard's house to meet the fish man, and Lorelai offered to give the keys to her car, so that they can go, since neither one of them had a car there. Before they left however, Lorelai pulled her wedding ring off her finger, and handed it to Rory, and said, "If you see your dad, will you give him this, and tell him to never come here again".

"Sure, I will, and I'm really okay with not seeing Dad again, I'm really upset with him also. He should have been there for you".

"Thanks, Hon".

Rory and Logan left the hospital, and on the was on the way to Emily and Richard's house Rory is looking out of the window.

"Ace, you okay"?, he asked. "You seem awfully quiet.

"Yeah, it's just that I keep on thinking about Mom's ring. She gave it to me to give it back to Dad, not that I blame her".

"What are you going to do"?

"I don't know, I guess I'm going to give Mom's ring back to Dad. Can we stop at the post office on the way back to the hospital"?

"Sure".

Rory and Logan finally arrives at Richard and Emily's house, Rory had a key for the house, Emily had given at to her just in case something happens, that would make Emily to need Rory to come in, in a hurry to help her.

As soon as Rory got the front door open, she went straight to Richard's study to pack up several of his books. Then she went upstairs to get a couple of outfits for Emily from Emily and Richard's walk-in closet to bring back to the hospital.

When she was done, she started down the stairs, and at the bottom of the stairs, she sees Christopher standing in the foyer.

When she sees him, she suddenly got very angry and said, "Well, it's about time you showed up".

Christopher was surprised at Rory outburst, "Your mom told you what happened, right"?

"What do you care, yes of course, she did and even if she didn't tell me, don't you think I would have figured it out"?

"Rory... I", Christopher started to say something, but Rory didn't let him finish what he was saying. "What's all this nonsense that you can't be her rebound? Well, as matter of the fact is that you were always a rebound for her, and you were too naïve to even figure that out".

"What"? Christopher had no idea what Rory meant when she said that he was always her rebound. He didn't even notice he being that for her.

Rory looked at Christopher stunned. Was her father that naïve and didn't see how he was Lorelai's (her mother's) rebound?!

"Oh come on Dad. At Mom's bachelorette party six years ago, she was engaged to Max Madina, and she drunkenly called you that night, and I don't know what you said to her but it sure did the trick, she ran out on him, left him at the altar for you. Then when you came to visit when you presented me at the debutante ball, she was hoping that you would stick around, but what did you do, you said that you were getting involved with another woman, Sherry to be exact. Then you came to see us, when I had my cast off of my arm and you said that you were leaving Sherry that you and her were done and that you were going to be there for us and stupidly, we believed you".

"Rory", Christopher trying to stop her yelling at him.

"Oh, and then you guilt trip her, into saying you should go back to Sherry, and then you say that you don't want to leave".

"Honey, please understand".

"I had always understood, is wasn't until Sherry had her baby, no wonder your relationships never work out. You are never around".

"That's the problem, Dad. You and me, everyone in entire world, has a choice. The only trouble with you is that you are so immature to make a decision, so you stay away, and also run away for your problems".

"Rory"! Christopher retorted.

"Oh, and then Luke. I told you to stay away from her and don't call her. Then you show up at the Dragonfly Inn for lunch, thinking you deserve respect and the right to be here, but you now, when you can't even look at Mom in the eye".

"I just couldn't be there, when Luke was there".

"Luke? Luke? You couldn't stand when Luke was at the hospital? Luke has done nothing but be there for me and Mom, no matter when even if when they are not together, he was always there for me and it seems like you can't be bothered".

"Rory, that's not true".

"It is and I wasn't surprised that you weren't there".

Rory, then reached into her packet and took out Lorelai's wedding ring.

"Dad, Mom asked me to give you this".

"What is this"?

"She's done, Dad. So am I".

"Is that because of that Luke guy"?

"No, it's because of you, and your absence, and your not there for her".

"I couldn't be her rebound, and I know she still has feelings for him".

"First of all, you were always her rebound, second of all, she was with him for two years, you can't have a relationship like that and not feel anything for that person. Now, get out, and I never want to see you again, and Mom doesn't want to see you again either".

Christopher turns out, and walks out the door. Rory walks back to the other room to where Logan was, who was listening to the confrontation, "Are you okay"? He asked.

Rory didn't say anything, she just smiled and nodded and walked toward him and straight into his arms. After a little while, they separated and continued back to getting things for Richard, in the hospital.

~Author's Note~

For all of the Chris supporters out there. I'm sorry. I just thought that was important for Christopher to know the truth, plus him not showing up at the hospital was the breaking the point for me.
